I've just finished the book. As I read more, I become more infatuated with (what I can conceive from the novels) the writer. One line, though I have never marked one of my books(or even taken long enough to read them to make it noticable they've been read), I wanted to highlight, circle and underline. The books have gone from creepy to seductive. One line, "....yet it felt as if there were many people listening, many voices saying nothing, many ears twitching." Reading that, I gasped, as if one most forbidden, desirable and not interested suddenly, unexptantly, certainly inappropriately, and seductively, kissed that spot on the back of my neck, while strategically finding that other spot on my lower back, with the warmth of the palm of his hand. I melted when I read that line. I am now seduced by his style and succumbing to his method.
