I am rather curious as to whether or not anyone has stayed at the Dolphin Hotel that is the backdrop for part of the story in "The Anansi Boys" and if so did anything out of the ordinary take place while you were there?
Between Neil Gaiman and the author, Haruki Murakami I am becoming more and more convinced that odd and interesting things take place in hotels bearing the name "Dolphin." I'm not sure if this is merely coincidence or if these authors know something I was not yet aware of. Just curious -- thanks!

... probably it is just personal speculation, but the dolpin can be seen as a strong symbol. Some Native Americans consider it the symbol of freedom or of intelligence opposed to violence.
In Yeats' Byzantium the dolphins carry the departed souls to the otherworld through the sea of human passions. I don't really think it is of some importance for the novel... but you make me remember of it!
