She did speak after she was dead, but to correct her age, which was only a bit over 100 which makes it unlikely she's a God. (The book had other ghosts in it, so I took it as just another example of the dead speaking.)
Now, whether or not there are other references there, I can't say. Someone else have an answer?

First off, hello all... I have to agree with GMZoe that it was only another example of the "life after death", and not an example of god-like behavior. She was 104 when she died, which seems a long-time but certainly not unheard of. She also had certain "mystical" powers, but those can be attributed to witchcraft.

They are gods! Remember back to the first beginning/end of the world sceen where Fat charlie walks through and meets gods at the mouths of caves. This is where there are refferences to tie in! Mrs dunwiddy (sp) is elephant!

she lived so long because of Anansi, she had a "history" with him and Anansi can make things happen (like helping Fat Charlie's mother in the hospital)
