I recieved my review copy yesterday and dove right in. I'll save the fancy stuff for the review, but I'm really enjoying the ride. Thanks for dedicating ANANSI BOYS to me, Neil. I was really touched. Smile

(hi! Welcome to the boards... Neil doesn't read any of the threads here, so you might want to email/write/call him directly to express your thanks.)

Thanks for the welcome.

You'll understand the wisecrack about the dedication when you read the book this fall.

In the meantime I'm about three-quarters of the way through the novel, and I'm ready to read it again. This is a fun, scary, entertaining read. It surpasses AMERICAN GODS in terms of readability and continuity. As much as I loved getting to follow Shadow and old one-eyed Wednesday, I'm enjoying the heck out of ANANSI BOYS!

Wait and see.

I got it. Smile (about the dedication, I mean)

I received my review copy last week, but I have vowed to finish the other three books I'm in the middle of (not counting Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell) before starting Anansi Boys. Yes, my dear friends, it's sitting in my work bag unread. Frown Luckily I have much reading time on my hands at the moment, so I will begin it this week.

Very good story! Definitely needs to be tightened up, but knowing Neil, I'm sure it will be.

EDIT: I'm assuming what we read is the "zeroth draft" Neil talked about in his blog, the one he was embarrased about having sent out. Because at the end it was dated December something, and Neil was talking about having the "first draft" ready in April.

But then again, it's July. If these were printed in May, then maybe it is the official first draft. But then, it does have weird typos..

Just trying to figure out how much the final story will resemble this draft. Guess we'll find out soon enough. Razz
