No official ones that I'm aware of... did you not make it to the Fiddler's reading?

He read it in Washington DC back in October at that Library of Congress thing. The LOC put all the readings/talks/Q&A by most of the authors up on its site. So there is a reading of AB on the web (or was). The link to the LOC site is in the journal somewhere.

I was lucky enough to hear Neil read two lovely bits at U of C in April.

The 1st portion he read was the account of Fat Charlie calling to invite his Father to his wedding at the insistence of his fiancé, and instead getting a blow-by-blow account of the last moments of his Father's life via the telephone and a gabby family friend.

Not sure how spoiler-ish I should be but it involves karaoke, big blond buxom tourists, a heart attack and a tube top...

It was very funny and the 250 person audiences laughed freely, those of us who've heard Neil speak know how just how lovely his pacing and delivery is...

The second bit was Fat Charlie recovering from a nasty hangover after what I can only infer might have been his Father's funeral...

My favorite line that sticks out in my head was ˜the door opened and in walked Charlie's bathrobe...and there was a girl inside it'

Fat Charlie then laments that he's horribly late for work and gets a call from his newly discovered brother, who tell him not to worry because he has gone to his work and told everybody that he (the brother) is actually Fat Charlie...and everything is fine.

I get the impression that the brother, since they are sons of the trickster god, is able to fool and con people...but I suspect Fat Charlie will be the straight man in this book.

I'm really looking forward to it...

Hi! I'm a newbie here. I'd just like to share that I've been to last night's book signing and Anansi Boys reading in my area, and I agree: his delivery and pacing were nothing short of excellent.

He also read about the wedding invitation dilemma part, then a bit about how Fat Charlie found out about his father's death, and a bit about the funeral itself, which was really funny. (Punchline is a spoiler so I'll just post if someone asks for it.)

Neil also talked about how Fat Charlie wondered if he also had the godly powers his father had, and was informed he wasn't to worry, his brother Spider had them all. :-)

Yes, I was present at Rockwell yesterday, and I was very impressed by the way he reads! As one who has often read aloud to small children, I could appreciate the magic of hearing the characters come to life as his voice shifted to reflect different accents and ages and points-of-view.

I have just realized that I am going to have to save money to buy whatever audio books feature Neil's voice. Goodness knows, I barely have time to read paperbacks anymore.

I had the pleasure of hearing him speak last night and I have to say it was amazing. If you have an opportunity to get to one of the signings go...it is well worth the wait
