I dunno. Dave Mckean's color work can occasionally have that sterile creepy Photoshop feel... looks like it could be a problem here too.

Much as I love Dave Mckean, i was watching this thinking "I wish they'd got the brothers Quay to make it instead" (I would post a link to their work but they usually insist all images of their work are taken down) - it's just a bit too shiny. But Im probably being too critical.

Im hopeful though, and I'm sure it'll be a hell of a lot more interesting than Revenge of the Sith.

Yeah, but he's all old and grumpy these days, plus the Quays do the superfine detail a bit better in my opinion.

But you're right, Svankmajer was the inspiration for both the Quays and Mckean. Although he probably wouldn't make a nice film about a girl going to a shiny fairy land, unless it was loaded with disturbing psycho-sexual imagery and things being chopped up.

I thought Svankmajer's Little Otik was a lot of fun - it was almost like he'd been watching Evil Dead or something like that... it seemed like the movie of a young person.

Graf and I have a philosophy.. we make only one decision before the veiwing of a movie... whether to watch the movie 1. In the Theatre, 2. on dvd later, or 3. wait for it on tv....maybe. Mirrormask is more than likely going to be a "watch in theatre, buy on dvd later" flick. The trailers do look intriguing.

so is this the trailer with music actually in the movie? because all of the music i've heard in relation to "mirrormask" has been pretty good; maybe its soundtrack will be able to rival that of "amélie"'s...

No. The new trailer does not have movie music in it. If you like the music, Neil has said who the music is by for some of them in his blog
The movie's music is by Iam Bellamy, a jazz musician McKean has worked with before doing covers for his CDs. There's also a song written by Neil during the end credits, "If I Apologized"
