Salon.com has an article on Beowulf here. It's fairly negative, but if that doesn't bother you it's a good, interesting read. (And it makes for a nice change from Kamiya's usual "Get out of Iraq now!" articles. )

I'm not sure yet I'll be going to see the film. The hyper-realistic brand of fully CGI movie doesn't do much for me; I prefer my CGI animation to be more stylised.

It is an interesting article. But I haven't seen the movie yet, mostly for the same reasons (the trailers have made my head hurt), so I really can't comment yet...
