Continuity question in Stardust

This question includes a few details about the book so is only for those who have read it.
The book poses the following:
  • Tristan was conceived on the night of market.
  • Market only happens every nine years.
  • Victoria is 6 months younger than Tristan.
  • Victoria is 17.

This implies that Tristan is 17 and 6 months, and thus market happened 3 months ago, and yet at the end of the story, market happens. So what gives?

That is definitely a continuity error. Tristran was born in February (nine months after the market) and he was sent away at 8 for the next market. When he turns 17, the next market is a little more than 2 months away on May Day. He leaves Wall to go searching for the star in October. For everything to work out, he has to be 16 when he leaves Wall.
