Yep, that's the Book Fair. Except, I don't have to travel down miles and miles of 81, only about 30.

I didn't intend it to be mean. It was a feeble attempt at humour.

That someone with such a unique, artistic style all their life, instead of going out and buying a sportscar for their midlife crisis, they would install beige carpet in their house and start wearing khakis.

Did you ever see the episode of the Osbournes where Kelly's wigging out because the parents of a friend wouldn't let said friend come over because Kelly's father was Ozzy Osbourne and he bites the heads of birds!!! Kelly was yelling about it being twenty years ago, and it was very funny. But, you know what? I wouldn't let my kid go play at the Osbourne house.

Maybe the reason Neil went with boring and normal on the inside of his house was because he didn't want his kids to ever have the experience of a friend's parent saying, "Hell no you're not going to the Gaiman house! They think they're the Addams family or something!"

Aliasmoi, Neil asked for people to give their honest opinions. I agree that parrotslave could've worded things differently, but I don't know that it would've made that message any more honest. And, as Neil says, he didn't design the site, he just let people know the sort of thing he was looking for. I doubt he sees it as an insult at all.

And I don't think you can call a Midwestern Gothic mansion stuffed with McKean prints, strange statues and bits of technology "boring and normal."

It was heartless of me to tell him I thought he was creative and charming. If I had any feelings at all I would be deeply ashamed.

I'd ask that both of you leave the matter alone, please. Aliasmoi, even if Neil is mortally offended, there's nothing to be done about it now. And, parrotslave, I don't think you have anything to defend yourself against, and I'm fairly sure you feel the same. Let it pass.

For what it's worth I thought the rest of your message was good, Parrot. Smile

Neil's blog post for today made me laugh, and I desperately needed to laugh.

You are an Accomptant. You keep track of the King's accounts, which is a fairly simplish job: his current holdings is always A LOT, and his expected revenue is always MORE. 'Sgood ta be da King. As long as there isn't a peasant uprising, you're likely to keep your head. Also, you're the only one in the office who knows how to use an abbacus. (Or multiply.) (Or add.)

I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not.

Hal, if you want to do a screenshot and browser information, we could pass that along to troubleshootertypes.
