Hi,

I thought I might as well get this going here: Neil said in his most recent journal entry that it might be an interesting idea to translate what he's saying there.

I'm wondering if anyone started working on a translation already? I also wonder if there's demand for a German translation, seeing how I'd be able to do that. I wouldn't go through the archive and translate what he does, but I should be able to translate posts as they come out.

Hi Bringa!

As far as I know, no one connected with the Message Board is doing any translations.

You can offer up your services to Neil via his FAQ line.

.....hee. I took german for three years and only remember one phrase. If I did a german blog translation, readers would only be hearing about Neil going around the corner, and maybe a trip to the beach. And his friend, Ingo, who would also go around the corner and to the beach. hee.

I didn't want to point that out to her; thanks for doing it for me Wink

I wouldn't have thought of it myself, really; I was as surprised as Neil seems to have been. I mean, I function in English: I read, write, speak, and dream in English, even though I'm still a German native speaker. The thought that there could be fellow Germans out there loving Neil but not speaking sufficient English to get the block had never occurred to me; but now that I'm thinking about it, it seems only too logical. I'll have a look if I can find some German fansites and see if there's demand. Then I'll see if I can keep up with Neil with my translations, and if that works for a month or so, I'll start advertising the fact that I'm offering translations.

Any co-conspirators are more-than-welcome!

Both for you and future translators: unfortunately, this board probably isn't the best place to test the waters as to if a certain language is desired. We're a primarily English board (though not just Americans by any means), so though we've had the odd post in another language, most of your target audience won't be here.

Yeah, I probably hoped more for the last part: fellow German native speakers who also do speak English and who might be willing to help.

Und, let me guess, DER STRAND IST UM DIE ECKE?

I wonder why they didn't teach you useful things, like "ORDNUNG MUSS SEIN!" or "Nein, das passt dort nicht rein... autsch!"

Ehm. Bedtime for me ;P
