Heres the answer to the question about neils wife, its pretty much what most people assumed.

http://www.citypages.com/databank/27/1356/article14921.asp

CP: You have an unusual amount of openness about your family with fans. Where do you draw the line with your private life?

Gaiman: I remember once I said something about my wife, which I thought was just the kind of funny story you put up on a blog. I'm a member of the Deformed Bunny of the Month Club. There's a very nice lady out on the West Coast who makes me deformed bunnies. They used to come monthly, and now they're sort of more quarterly, but they'll turn up, and they'll be strangely disturbing.

A few years ago, one of these bunnies arrived, and it had two heads. It was in a ballet tutu, and it was kind of cute. And my wife said, "Well that's really cute, it isn't even disturbing like the others."

And then Maddy said, "Yes, Mom, and look, one of the heads is dead!"

I just thought that was funny, so I put it on my blog, and the next thing my wife is saying, "I don't feel comfortable being on there." So as far as my blogging world exists, I leave her out.

I can definitely see a point where I would no longer blog, or tour, or do interviews. I think I'm somebody who decided early on that you either do it the whole way, and you have fun with it, or you go the Thomas Pynchon route. I'm not sure I'd be very good at doing the middle ground. I'm now just a bit more famous than I'm comfortable with. Stephen King once told me about the mad lady who lived in his attic, this person who had crept into his house, and his advice was: Do not live where your address is.

I just saw this interview too, and it made me smile and think of this thread. I'm glad we have the answer now!

It's probably terribly rude to say on a message board dedicated to Neil Gaiman, but I must say that I find Maddy's blogging annoying at best, infuriating at worst. I've never had much patience for chirpy "Me! Me! Me! Gosh, aren't I cute?" kind of stuff.

I love Maddy's blog posts! They make me think, "Gosh, I wasn't nearly that cute as a kid." Mostly I just scowled at people and kept quiet.

She seems really smart, anyway, so you can see why Neil likes to show her off. Probably well-read, considering her dad, and a better writer than most bloggers twice her age or more!

What really caught my attention was the, "darnit Jim" at the end of today's post. Is it just me, or did Maddy make a Bones reference from the old Star Trek? Eek

Maddy's a hoot, just like Delirium, except saner. I know what it's like to be that age and have a mouth full of metal. She's doing what any 12 year old does, being young, and very energetic. One question if it is not to personal, was Maddy a happy "surprise" because it seems her other siblings are least 12 years or so older than her ?

I would so loved to have seen the Jonothan Ross Moment mentioned in the blog! (I do rather adore Jonothan Ross, who takes the art of "Being Full Of Oneself" to a whole new level, and this is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect of him. He and his missus are also in a Gaiman story - I think it's the Miss Finch one.)

I find it hilarious that Ross had to "explain that he is famous in England" *laughs* He's so cool! And strange!

And, in theory, there should be a video up today on youtube... *evil grin*

Speaking of Maddy, anyone have any idea what that theme song is for Maddy Gaiman TV? The "dadada, badada, dadadadadadada, dododo..." etc.

I don't mind Maddy's posts...I wouldn't read them if it were just Maddy's blog and she was an anonymous little girl, but it's funny seeing her and hearing what adventures she and her dad are up to. I think she is freakin' adorable but considering what I choose to do with my life (discuss books with 11 and 12 year olds) what else would you expect?
Plus, I think it is so sweet how Mr. G dotes on her...it reminds me of a goofier version of the way Sarah Crewe was with her father.
