Hello Everyone,

I am currently writing my thesis for my Masters of Fine Art and would like to cite a quote from Neil, however, while I remember reading it somewhere, I can't remember where it was. Perhaps you can help. The quote goes something like this:

"If words can be literature and images can be art, then why is the combination of the two somehow less than the sum of their parts."

Anyone have any clues? I'd really appreciate it.

Take care, All!

I don't know that one but Wikiquote has "Give a man a fish, and he's creating art. But teach him to fish, and soon you'll have a pool full of exploding koi."

Edit in: Hmmm, there's LucyAnne's bookmarks over on del.icio.us to look through. I really should be writing a paper right now. Sigh.

Well, according to this link, the quote is:

"Stop and think about it: You have pictures. Pictures are great, adults like pictures, pictures hang in art galleries. And you have words, and words are wonderful things. You can get the Nobel Prize for Literature just by using words. Somehow, as soon as you put them together, you are perceived to be doing something that's either for children or for sub-literates, and there's no reason for that."

Daniel!

Thank you so much, I believe that's the one I'm looking for. Not sure how to cite it though. I couldn't find any source on that link (book, page, year, date, etc.) aside from the fact it came from Neil. Am I overlooking something on that site that would tell me more? Thanks again for your help. You too, Weeble. Smile Much appreciated.

Take care, both!

I googled the quote and found the interview transcribed over on LucyAnne's Dreaming site: To The Best Of Our Knowledge, broadcast May 31, 1995
