Who all is going to the Las Vegas literary festival and is anyone familiar with the area and good hotels to stay near the event?

Been meaning to reply to this for a while now. Just hadn't had the time. If it's not to late, there's a number of hotels in the area next to the library. We're actually about 10 minutes (max) away from the Las Vegas Strip. Meaning, pretty much any of the major hotels (which usually run fairly good on-line specials on rooms during the week) are fine. There are a few non-strip locations as well (on Paradise, and also off of Tropicana and Flamingo). May want to mapquest it to the venue (1401 E. Flamingo Road) for the talk. The signing will be held earlier in the day at the 5th Street School downtown.

As a forwarning, Vegas cabbies can't pick folks up on the street (drives NYers bonkers) so if taking a cab, from the hotel shouldn't be too much of a problem, most strip hotels have taxi stands, but you'll need to call for one after the talk. Depending on what is happening that night, it can take 20-30 minutes for them to arrive -- sometimes less/sometimes more.
