I find out about this the other day, and I have been cursing my luck ever since. To Sydney, and not Melbourne! I worked it out I could attend about three of them but all up it'd cost me $200-$300....which I don't exactly have right now.

Damn you, Sydney. Damn you.

Yeah, I actually emailed them asking if it would be possible for me to get a ticket (which is pretty pointless seeing as there isn't much chance of me going) and I haven't heard back from them...

Did you get to meet Neil when he was in Melbourne last year?

I'm going to try and get to both talks on May 23rd, I have the one Maquari Uni booked already. If only I could find out where exactly the Price Theater is.

Is anyone else going? I'm going to try to use my secret FBi (radio) powers to get into the Town Hall one for free, so if any other boardies are there (doubtful), give me a wave.

I'm the guy who looks like pictures i've posted various places.

Is anyone with podcasting abilities going to (any of) Neil's SWF appearances? Is he OK with recordings being made?

I love the Authors on Tour people, but I don't think they operate over here, so I'm going to throw it out there to anyone in Sydney who is
a) going to the shows
b) capable of recording & podcasting
c) a thoughtful, generous, community-minded kind of person who wants to spread the Good Word of Neil
to go along and record it...

If I was more certain I wouldn't get a grilling (and knew how to do it), I'd email this to Neil himself to put on the blog...

2 hours to the signing

If anyone from Sydney is reading this, give me a yell-- i'm wearing black jeans, my black Sandman shirt with the Key to Hell and Dream's face on it, a red hoodie with white stripes near the cuffs, and a beat up black leather jacket. Carrying a green canvas medical bag with two badges-- one says 'baby got books' and one has a big '4' on it.

Seriously. Meeting random internet people is my new fave hobby

Missed seeing you there. The new story that Neil read was great. But what happened to the chinchilla?
Got a couple of more books signed.

Oh neat
Today was great! Took a girl from FBi...nervous as heck. Saw some roleplaying friends.
The talk was awesome. Neil read a new kinda creepy sci-fi story, 'Orange', and told great stories about his kid-- his daughter took a comic course taught by a professor who was an 'unreconstructed Eisnerist', and he describe the effect this had on Art Spigelman and some designer, who were at dinner...
Los of good jokes. Terry Pratchett stories. Mention of how bad Books of Magic got. Aussie comedian and host Wil Anderson's admission that Neil made him more nervous then the Dali Llama.

I stayed and got him to sign my ticket stub (he already signed my books last year) and told him i'd bring him a red balloon if I had one.

I saw Neil last night at Macquarie Uni. He read one of his short stories ("How Do You Talk To Girls At Parties") from his forthcoming compilation "Fragile Things" He was in fine voice and good spirit. Answered questions for about 45 mins before sitting himself down for a signing where no request went unfulfilled. He continues to be a warm and accomodating man and a rare talent.

Saw Neil again tonight at Sydney Theatre for the Graphic Novels talk. Unfortunately no story read, but lots of interesting stuff. Working with Dave McKean, Jill Thompson & other artists.
Got some more books signed, with Neil commenting "that it was a wonder that I could still find stuff for him to sign."
