Come on peeps, there were over 700 of us at the event in Toronto. Surely someone other than a newbie like me is posting about it!! I was thrilled to meet Neil for the first time. I'm an ex-pat from the UK so we had a nice chat about what we missed from home. Neil's reading from Anansi Boys was wonderful. He really picked a great bit to read. I thought it was funny when I read it but it was so much funnier when Neil read it.

I hope he comes back to Toronto to one of the cons or on another tour. I'll be there if he does.

i wanted to go, but couldn't make it. i'm sure it was awesome, tho. i have met him twice already, the last couple of times he was here. so i didn't feel TOO bad.

i did end up going to the Infected Mushroom show at the Guvernment the same night, tho. that kicked ass.

i was there, near the end of the line. we were in that group of the 'first 300' who were allowed to get things signed so we didn't line up early thinking we were safe. of course then they announced *everyone* would be able to have things signed and it was by wristband number. we had 500 and something

so needless to say i didn't get up there until about 12:30 only to discover neil was still in a happy mood!! he was awesome, when i told him he was a trooper he thanked me! all i did was wandered around for a few hours.

to spite me for making me stay my husband sat in the back pew while i was in line and ate, piece by piece while looking at me, the chocolate bar i had bought for a late night sugar rush. i was finishing the story with the lady beside neil when he said 'well if he's eaten your chocolate bar you deserve two treats!' (since they had that big bowl of candy there) i said it was ok, i didn't really need chocolate, so he offered me strawberry twizzlers. i laughed and said it was ok, then he said i was really nice to still get a book signed for my husband even though he ate my chocolate. then he opened my copy of anansi boys and wrote "to tara, in lieu of chocolate". it was pretty cool and worth the long wait.

i'm sure he was there for about another hour but he was still cheerful and seems like a really great down to earth guy.

I was there. Where were you guys in my "Who's going to TORONTO?" thread? I wrote a lengthy thing about my thoughts in the link below. I thought it was great. I was in the first two hundred, and sat in a pew talking to friends back home while I waited. Got signed fairly eary.

I'm a newbie, just signed up to this board after Saturday. The waiting time on Saturday did not seem so long. I was in the 200's and got to the front of the line by about 11:15. It was a great night.
