we could cast the cat...have you had any experience with mold making? I've worked in lots of media, and this was my first try in glass. this weekend i think i will try again, and begin a series of sorts. I never mind sharing knowledge- do you have any access to a programmable electric kiln? That's key in firing glass, as temperature control is imperative. Neil's piece fired for approximately 23 hours, but it was quite large. let me know, you aren't too far from me - my sister and brother still live in the chicago area.

Your work is absolutely stunning, ivenotime! Do you make a lot of those? And how much do you charge for them?

I remember you. You were in line to get Neil's signature behind Nelthita and me when they told us the line was cut off. You were hoping to get your daughter's comic book signed. Did he sign it?

OHHHHH now the light bulb is lit and I know who you and Nelthita are. ok, nice to connect names and faces. yes, I got her book report signed (shhh for xmas...) on Sunday at the last signing. So I was glad to get that done, and I think she will be tickled pink - I had him sign it to The Spawn, which is indeed what she is. I am going to do my second ever glass casting this weekend Jeff - so this is a relatively new media for me. I took a workshop last july in glasscasting, but hadn't had time to do anything with the knowledge until I got the idea for a sandman commemorative piece. I havent priced them out yet, but the glass alone was close to $100. for Neal's, and that doesn't account for time, electricity, mold supplies, etc. I am going to start experimenting on some that are much smaller which should be more in peoples price range, and some larger which would be more towards a gallery setting. So, after I write down the starting and ending wattage during the kiln firing, I will have a much better idea of my costs. Media I typically work with is wood, clay, steel, and cast aluminum, though I don't get much done during the school year. Thanks for the great words Jeff!! (Now happy that I can see the faces as I type this.....) time for PIZZA - bye now!

I've no experience at all with molds or glass, and last time I tried to make to something, a miniature terra cotta warrior to be exact, I burned it!

So I'm sure I have the makings of a gifted pupil Razz

Razz now that my devious thread has been hijacked.....

Just remembered that moment when someone (who?) was walking around with your piece, iveno, and no one could see it clearly, and they happened to walk past the wall scones and the whole room went "oooooooooooooooooh. THERE! THERE! STOP!" and you could see the light clearly shining through it and it was absolutely gorgeous.

I think it was someone tall.

Yes, that was Bill. I got to do it later, by the elevator, and it really was pretty. From the table, it just looked like a green square.

What was funny was the picture that was taken on my camera with Neil and I, and he holding the glass. It looks like a black smeary mess of fingerprints - not very impressive...I laugh whenever I look at it. I need to get my daughter to show me how to put pics up, its really a hoot.
