Why do I always get in fights at the movie theatre? Is it too much to ask for other people to respect everyone else who paid to see the movie? Anyhowsers. Saw Ironman tonight. Some dude behind me was talking very loudly behind us at the start of the movie. Everytime an actors name came up he read it OUT LOUD. he sang along with the AC/DC OUT LOUD. I was irritated, the people beside me were as well. Kirsty hushed him once but he ignored her. Then the bit with the cheerleaders starts. "honey! I bet theyre called the Starkettes! Get it the Starkettes. Cause its Stark cheerleaders." At this point I turned around and said "are you about done?" "What?" "Talking, we are trying to watch the movie" He then sticks his face in mine and says you got a problem? About 5 people said yes. Still he talks! "whats the problem?" he asks. At this point I am fed up and just snap "Its fucking irritating!" ![]() I hate people. (\__/) (O.o ) (> < )

How about the teenage girls who insist on checking their texts during the film? Sitting right in front of you. I've been known to tap them on the shoulder and remind them to turn the bloody thing off. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ boldly going somewhere Originally Registered: June 14, 2007

We had the opposite problem at a book launch and reading a couple of weeks ago. It was in a lovely bookshop on a main road, so not deathly quiet - heavy traffic and so on, plus people's shoes on the wooden floor. It was an adult event, so I bought kidlet a book before the talk started, and he spent the entire event, motionless and silent, as he is when he's engrossed in a book. However, the bloke in front of us, obviously outraged at the presence of a kid, turned around and sighed and tutted every time kidlet turned a page. Now, I totally get that there are times kids should be seen and not heard, and this was an adult event, but if you can't cope with the sound of a page in a book being carefully turned, then maybe you shouldn't go to a freakin' bookshop? Also, MG - good on you! *********************** "bring on the be-tentacled oppressors" - fluffyllama

that pisses me off SO much, the theatres here all have "NO TEXTING" signs all over the place now...but still, they persist on doing it, and it does seem to always be teenage girls too the most annoying thing about it is that i find the light from the phone always draws my eye for some reason and i end up missing something on the screen -not back with a vengeance, more like a dull thud followed by a scared wave-

that gets on my tits SO HARD. Even worse when it's people I'm with. Do people find it that hard not to check their phone for two hours? ____________________________________________________ I'm thinking that a lot of my internal conflict and malaise comes from the tension between the life I ACTUALLY want to live, and the stories I'd love to be able to tell? - T-Rex, qwantz.com

If I'm out without kidlet, then I leave my phone on vibrate, in case of emergency. However, if I was to check my phone because it did vibrate, then I would do it within the depths of my bag or under my scarf on my lap. *********************** "bring on the be-tentacled oppressors" - fluffyllama

I have to admit I do sometimes use the phone right up to the BBFC certificate going up and then start again when the credits start. Does that make me a bad person? __________________________________________________________ Oh you young people. It's all tea and muffins and excitement in your world I expect.

well, sadly, it really annoys me when people do that, too. mystery guest is general punks brother. he was a 'mystery guest' at a MEAT (not as formal as a WEVa). at the meat he met hal. they are getting married, in the spring I believe, but I keep forgetting. they keep leaving their computers logged on and posting as each other, just to keep us guessing (although it's usually pretty obvious which is which ![]() I'm sure we had a board couple count not long back, unless I did it via PM for someone...it happens every so often as we try to catch up with what is going on! ~ I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not. the parrot... ...gets tiresome. the parrot... ...i ate him. Yes. ![]() It does bother me when people do that, because the light is really distracting. I like going to the cinema for the whole experience -I actually do love sitting through the ads, the trailers, and ALL of the end credits. So phones, loud conversations and people arriving/leaving quite late/early in a noisy manner do bother me, because I am trying to have this experience but other people seem to treat the place as their own particular home cinema. (Not directed at you, btw.) But I'm really curious -if you're sitting in the cinema during the credits, why check your phone? Or if you're not interested in the credits, why stay? ![]()

i tend to stay for the entire credits, because i love knowing the little things like the foley artists (i have noticed that most teams of foley artists exist in pairs of same-sex people and i gather information on this whenever i go to see a film) and i always want to check that no animals are harmed in the making of a movie. so... yeah. i like to not be distracted, particularly in a moment when there's a LOT of information flying by. I watch credits for 3 reasons: One, in Spain, the translation and dubbing information is displayed at the very end of credits. So I make a point of staying till the end for solidarity, because I'm curious about who did what and as a way of showing those cinemas that won't display this info that some people ARE interested in it. Secondly, I often want to know where the film was filmed, who sang what songs, any random thanks and acknowledgements, etc. But most importantly, I feel they are part of the film as well, like the opening credits. A layout and music have been chosen for them. They are a continuation of the mood of the film. I watch the credits even at home when I watch a DVD. I want to emerge from the film gradually. Also, sometimes there's bonus bits after them ![]() ![]()
