Test is tomorrow. Not sure how long it'll take for the results to come back, but hopefully it won't take too long.

I'm sorry - I've only just seen this. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you & attaching health vibes. Also, I hope you manage to find ways to keep yourself distracted & sane while you're waiting for the test results.

Ok, so good news/bad news.

Good news: The doctor didn't see any areas that should have returned an abnormal result.

Bad news: Now we don't know why the results came back abnormal.

My doctor ended up taking four different tissue samples. Three from the outer part of my cervix, and one from the inner part. The inner one was the worse, since she had to actually dilate it a bit which hurt like hell and gave me terrible cramps for the rest of the day.

They've been sent off to the lab, and I should have results by Friday. They'll call me if they come back normal, and if they come back abnormal I'll have to go in again to discuss what comes next. I have no idea what would come next, and I think that scares me more then the fact that they could come back abnormal in the first place.

Focusing on the positive, though, there's a good chance that the original abnormal results were nothing, and this whole ordeal has been a practice in overreaction.

Still, it's a huge comfort to know I've got your support and vibes through this no matter what the outcome.

*hugs board*

I know it'll be hard to wait until Friday, but I bet those results come back OK too.

Smalltown, I've had this happen to me. I got an abnormal pap not long after I had Felicity. Tests cam back fine. Sometimes extreme amounts of stress can cause it.

*hugs* I'm sure everything will come back just fine...as I'm going through fertility treatments right now, I can totally empathize with the pain and frustration of having someone messing around with your ladyparts and not being able to definitively tell you if something is wrong or not.

ouch. you definitely have my sympathies on the cervix dilation - they did that with me when i had my coil put in, and OWIES. weirdest pain i've ever felt, and it takes ages to recover itself. horrible.

*hugs* I'm sure the results will come back fine, and i'm sending vibes to that effect.

I managed to wait until 2:30 yesterday afternoon before calling the doctor for my biopsy results. It turns out she hadn't even looked at them yet, but put me on hold while she took a peek and then told me the news.

My results came back positive for Low-grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions. Only the first and last words actually mean anything, as squamous intraepithelials are a type of cell that everyone has.

Low-grade lesions is the bad bit, but I think Snazz said it best yesterday about it being "the best kind of bad."

Low-grade is much better then high-grade, and occasionally even go back to being normal cells on their own and without treatment. Sometimes, though, they *do* become high-grade, and from there anywhere from 12-20% will eventually become cancerous. But that's down the road a ways.

I've been referred to a gynecologist, and will meet with them in in the next week or so to discuss a course of action.

I wish my doctor was better at explaining things. She tends to give me basic answers to all of my questions and never offers any extra information. Hopefully the GYN will be better about that.

Until then I'm going to continue quietly freaking out over here.

*hugs* over here too! and boo for doctors who don't elaborate (or listen to you and pay attention, like my doctor)

I didn't really understand any of it, but Snazz makes sense.

Still no need to freak! A low-grade Something that might maybe turn to hig-grade Another Thing which in turn has a small chance of becoming Something (maybe) is still much closer to Absolutely Nothing than to anything else.

If thinking of all the possibilities helps you, then do so (I tend to do that, for example, and sometimes facing worst-case scenarios actually helps me calm down), but if you freak, then don't. Until you see your doc and get your questions answered there's no point, really.

*more hugs*
