Dear me
Don't worry or berate yourself that you don't feel inordinately sadder today than any other day, just because its the second anniversary of when your big sis died. Emotions are odd things that catch you when you least expect it.
Just that, and then ring your mum, your dad and your neice. They'll probably need you today.
Me.

Dear Motley,

*hugs*

Have one now and keep one for later, there's lots more where that one came from. Smile

Sometimes you make cookies because you want to make cookies and sometimes you make cookies because you think people will resent you being there and the cookies will bribe them into liking you. I'm just going to put this out there because I'm pretty sure it's obvious - they wouldn't invite you to things if they didn't like you.

Domi. everyone wants you to be everywhere. that is all.

------------

woman. CALM down. stop getting ridiculously frustrated about the stupidity of your colleagues. it isn't going to change. they aren't going to improve. they've had a year to do it, and they haven't changed. not gonna happen.

also, don't forget, P puts "Have a nice day" (IN the quote marks) in *everyone's* birthday card. it isn't just that she's an ornery COW and that you two don't get on. she does it to everyone. making everyone question just why a) quote marks and b) nice? a nice day? on your birthday? really?

get over it. you have better things to think about.

I was going to write an entire post on going back in time and telling my past selves to do things differently, until I realized something.

You actually *had* to do all of those things. There was no way it was ever going to be done differently. Whether it was because of your environment, the circumstances, the parties involved, or just your character it was all going to happen the way it did.

There is nothing I can do for you now. The people who left did so by their own freewill. There some connections then you could not make. Your field was not going to make you money. You were going to act the way you were. Your mistakes are over and done: they happened and now you have to live with and accept what happened and learn from it.

Perhaps what I should do is put my time travel device away and tell you to enjoy your past glories but to live *right now.* Because we don't want our future self to come here and beat the crap out of each other.

You heard me.

I had a free pass to a brewery tour/ networking event around IoT (Internet of Things) that I was really looking forward to, combining techie shit and beer, and I came home from work all looking forward to it and all yesterday, and I left my fucking glasses case at work with my regular glasses in it, so all I had was sunglasses, which doesn't work with a nighttime event in the city, that I need to drive to, what involves drinking.

I couldn't find my backup pair, either.

So I didn't go, and I'd like to be all non-attached about it, but I'm not.

I hate when I miss out on something, and especially cuz I fucked up.

It seems to be coming clear to me that, no real surprise here, I/we are in way over our head ... Again.

Summer is coming, when we go to one paycheck, and the car insurance is being cancelled, again, and the balance ($1000+) of the oil bill is due, and credit cards are calling, and I think it all comes down to paying for a certain child (OOB) to go to school out-of-state, which was a poor decision on my part, and the bills are just too much.

There's just no way to catch up, even with a pretty decent salary, when you've been behind for as long as we have.

Damn, it's frustrating.

It's never going to be clear again. That kind of clarity hasn't existed since childhood, and even then it is rare. You have to just look at yourself, ask yourself what you want, and act on it accordingly. That's all you can do. Stop letting these distractions get to you, or calling emotions distractions. You are not that person anymore.

Just do your thing and maybe, just maybe, we can get to where we need to be.
