Ah, Shane.

The expressions on peoples' faces when they look at her is a total subtext for the L Word TV show.

She doesn't do anything for me, I'm afraid.

She's obviously very clever, but her music is anemic. It doesn't impose in any way, it shows no spirit. It's background music.

that was my response, but I didn't want to be the one to say it. Big Grin
it's really good background music, though!

Oh, I wouldn't say so. I don't think the song is immediately attention-grabbing, but it is subtle. I really, really like the contrast between the gentle, sliding steel guitar and the rhythmic noises she produces from it (especially the scr-scr-scritch one Razz). I find it emotionally hypnotic and calming, and musically fascinating - she's doing things with a steel guitar that I've never heard anyone else do. I love how she plays around and creates new sounds with an instrument that I'd only ever heard used before in a pretty generic and uninteresting way. I prefer her live videos on Youtube to the recorded stuff I've listened to, actually - in videos like this one she makes a beautiful mixture of melody and noise.

However, havin' said all that, there's a reason I posted the links to the videos here and not in a thread about music. Mostly I just fancy her...

ETA: Wow. You can't even hotlink decently. That's kind of sad. One more time and you get to go play in someone else's yard.
