Thanks to all who are posting the non disgusting stuff.

It was one poster. He is no longer among us.

I dunno. I always thought the vamp makeup in Buffy/Angel was eminently ugly. Add me to the list of those who appreciate Willow muchly, though. Big Grin

Not so much ugly as excessively fake, for me. I didn't mind it in the story because, well, when your budget for all 26 episodes is less than the cost of a 2 hour movie, you have to cut corners somewhere.

Perhaps it's also the cheap, been-there-done-that morphing effect that they used to transition from the one to the other. It's only recently that TV visual effects (as opposed to practical SFX) have started to be credible, and I guess it's always been easier to achieve in sci-fi than in the more organic horror/fantasy type series.

I find the vampire special effect they used in Doctor Who to be the scariest of all - an old lady with a straw. Must have cost them all of - I dunno - a penny?

Hive, I agree. Less is more for a lot of things, special effects included.

One of my favourite shows is Supernatural. Don't know if you or Thirith have even heard of it.

It's not even in the same league as Buffy, but it's a fun show and has an interesting and distinctive mythology. In each episode, two brothers battle some supernatual evil and, inevitably, that evil is far more effective when it's either completely unseen or only hinted at.

I've never seen an episode of Buffy, but yeah Alyson is hot.

Or at least when it doesn't jump out at you with a rubber mask that spells out, "I'm evil." Which may be one reason why I found the Mayor one of the most effective big bads in Buffy.

I liked him and Glory best, I think. She wasn't exactly evil either, just a hell god looking for the fastest way home. And that it meant death for mortals was simply irrelevant.

I really liked with Lucy Liu in the white kimono and the scenery of snow behind her. I like the others too. Big Grin

I realize this may cause some confusion for people reading this thread through for the first time, but I had to go back and delete a large number of posts from the recently banned poster Tisonem. He decided to leave us a Christmas present: multiple posts full of googlewhacks.

Long and short of it, he graffitied the board to make it easier for other people to find, a practice that is soundly frowned upon on most message boards, and one that's fairly dangerous as it would make it easier and more likely for spammers and spam programs to find the site.

I am so glad that you mods know what you're doing because I barely understood that! Smile

I just found it odd that someone would come onto a board devoted to an author, only post in one thread - one that admittedly has nothing to do with said author - and then whinge on because we didn't want to look at a flood of his porn.

What is a googlewhack? It sounds pervy.

I have to admit it, the outburst of whining vengeance for us being "misleading" and not letting him post porn was hilarious (as well as slightly pathetic).
