i *hate* it when that happens!

I prefer to live in a country that's small, and old, and where no one would ever have the NERVE to wear a cape in public, whether they could leap tall buildings in a single bound or not.

the parrot... ...gets tiresome.
the parrot... ...i ate him.

Now can anyone explain to me why tonight's events went one way for me, but totally different for someone else?

Got talking to a nice girl from Brazil and getting along fine, and as soon as I turn my back to get a drink another guy has muscled in and is using the exact same lines as me. He gets off with said girl. In less time.

Clearly it's not my technique.

you ever have one of those days when the boy you like has a date with a girl IMPOSSIBLY better than you are and you are trying to be happy for him - and then everything else in your life is also going kind of wonky - and you don't feel good - and the boy that you were going to go out with to have some fun yourself has decided he's not ready to go out with anyone even casually - so then all you can do is think about how you are alone and everyone else in the world is happy and even work is being a bitch cause things aren't going well there - and you are even kinda sickish and had to go to the doctor and you still don't feel very good on top of all the other stuff but really all you can do all day is think about the boy you really like and that perfect girl?

if so - then you know where I am today.

*sigh*

yeah still sick.

perfect girl wins (of course). (ie: date went well for them.)

sick enough to call out for a second day this week - because I feel like dying.

only 8 am and this day already sucks a lot.

I feel meh, but I do know why. There's a cold front just hanging over the East coast, which makes me hurt, the humidity is making everything feel damp and icky and sticky, which makes me want to shower because it just makes my skin crawl (I have much the same weird feeling when I sleep in hotels) And yes, I've overdone the whole traveling thing lately, so I knew I would "hurt when I got home". and well, I'm home Smile.

So last night I took a muscle relaxer, just to be able to get some sleep, and now I have a hangover(ish). And the front is still hovering, but it's supposed to be nice tomorrow. Hope so, I wanna do laundry.

thanks all - I think it might be time to go to the woods - separate from this and feel the grass between my toes...read a book. Stop thinking with my heart and start thinking with my head more. I think that is the lesson that life keeps kicking my way - maybe it's time I listened.

Hugs Maeve - hope it is sunny for you tomorrow.

Surprisingly, the sun came out today instead of tomorrow (I am deeply sorry if anyone gets a showtune earworm Smile) So instead of just going back to bed I did some laundry and tackled a cleaning job that I've been ignoring for far too long. Devlin helped! He's learning just how hard it is to keep wooden chairs and tables nice. Perhaps this will curb his sloppiness in future.

Oh and *hugs* for Ava.

I got a decent night's sleep last night, for a change - got up, did a little NGB and TW (okay, a lot) then went back and napped again 'til noon.

I could have caught up on work, I suppose, as next week is probably going to suxxorzville, but nah ... I'd go see DK with the missus, but it looks a tad violent for Emma, so I guess I'll pass.

Defrosting the freezer, of which the door no longer closed 'cause of the ice -- a slo-ow process, even in these hot days.

So, not a bad day, but not much goin' on.

my family left yesterday for holiday. they're going where we go every year, for probably the last time, and i couldn't go because i can't get time off work.

but that's not what sucks. i can count on one hand the number of times i've been on my own in this house for more than a couple of hours. my parents are both teachers, which meant that all the time we were growing up, when we weren't at school, they weren't at work.

so i'm wandering aimlessly from room to room, turning on lights, tvs, radios, anything that gives the impression that there are other people here. and they left yesterday. i've got 2 1/2 weeks of this, of coming home from work to an empty house. i don't know what i'm going to do.
