I'm watching "jPod' (2008) and at the top of the 2nd episode, Ethan (played by Kopp) says: " My brother only dates 'Cougars' ".

I always thought predatory older women were called "barracudas".

I'm not sure I'm up to having more than social relations with a woman more than 20-years older than me, no matter how 'tight a package' she may be. (Five-years, maybe.)

Personally, I find them a little intimidating. I'm fine for going for someone a bit older, but I just got approached by someone married with kids, and I draw the line a few hundred yards short of that.

I kind of prefer women with a strong personality, who know what they want. Some of which have been quite older then myself.

But Cougers scare me.
They know what they want, alright, but thier personality is skin deep. They are like 18 year clubbing girls - with hanging breasts and wrinkles. And they are so obviously just after your dick, it is vulgar.

I knew a lad who used to pick them up around 2am. When he was otherwise unsuccessful and already drunk. I think he also enjoyed making them spend (thier husbands) money for him. A form of male prostitution I guess.

I wonder why an older woman looking for sex has such a predatory aggressive name.

My personal issue, is that it points out how tragically un-hip I am. Here I've been pursuing 'age appropriate' relationships for the longest time, not realizing that it might be easier 'to be eaten, then it is to eat'.

I can see that. I just get the feeling there's an extra element involved in people's (and especially Newro's here) revulsion when it's a woman consuming men. Hence my question about the feral, predatory aspect of the term "cougar". But maybe that's just my own knee jerk reaction.

Right. One definition of cougar in Urban Dictionary says 35+, another says in her 30s or 40s. Most of the entries seem approving in tone, referencing MILFs and such.

Most of the women I've been seriously attracted to were slightly older than me, but even 20 years isn't that big a deal. If it works, it works. Consenting adults. I'm much quicker to dismiss women younger than me, about 5 years in that direction is a stretch.

Nah, the sexually consumed thing is fine with me - if terms and conditions agreed.

Personally I would say that most Cougars are considerbly older then 40.
And it is purely the 'in your face' character. Mini skirts, high heels, lots of breast, tons of makeup and way too much perfume - everything slightly out of fashion - Think: Peggy Bundy.
Plus, they are clearly not attracted to you, they are attracted to anything with a dick not running fast enough.


But as mentiond in the previous post, that is not a pure age thing. Nothing wrong with a woman who likes to take the initiative - independing on age.

A MILF knowing how to play her cards can be somethng very attractive. And lets face it, you are probably having a better time then with the half frozen 18 year old clubbing girl.

Surely not. What i associate with a barracuda are rich (married) women who latch on to (much) younger guys, spend a lot of money on them to keep 'em as pets. In my mind it has very little to do even with having a younger lover, or being an older woman. It's about aquiring entourage: which is as unnatractive in women as it is in men. As -incidentally- it's unnatractive in the common little beasts who go for it to be "kept" like a prize pony.

I interrogated one of the American lads at the office today about 'Cougars'. He's 23. He knew exactly what a Cougar was, without explanation.

He said they are great sport. I'm paraphrasing here. He and his mates frequently canvas them at the end of the night, when they're unsuccessful with younger, good-looking women and 'fat chicks'. Rarely do they do they leave with one, 'because it would creep me out to do it with someone my mother's age'.

My guess, with Cougars, they 'catch and release'.
