Lord have mercy, my dad just called to tell me that my older sister, who lives in Southern California, just got a mandatory evacuation notice due to wild fires. Her five biological children are all older and four of them have their own homes (the youngest will be going to college this fall), but she has two adopted children who are four and two. I can only imagine how distressing this is. Plus, she has a lovely home that she adores and not everything she wants to save can fit in a car, or even several cars. Just really worried and sad for her . . .

Right now, the news is that the fire is now over 9000 acres and over 2700 homes have been evacuated with more on warning. However, at present, no homes have been lost to the fire and the weather has been cooler and damper today, so they are hoping to hold the lines if not actually gain on the fire tonight.
