Everything's been back to normal ever since the big storm passed, Hive... No outbreaks of cholera yet, either. Razz The normal Dutch drizzle we had all day yesterday doesn't seem to be a problem. We'll have the plumber stop by later, and in the meanwhile I'll go to the beach to fill up a few sacks with fresh, dry sand.

And how's your scalding-hot water situation? Did they fix it yet?

I saw a fight break out in the store today. It was a Social Store for people with surly, downcast eyes who can't afford regular stuff. It was a fight infront of the milk shelf. Not enough milk.
I saw them hit each other with the pent up anger of years of having to skimp on milk and feeling like third rate human beings.
I took notes and notes. My photographer clicked and clicked.

humpf..

the other parties aren't any better though.

just think of the FPÖ: "weil's die eu nur so kapiert"
(for non german speakers: because the eu won't get it otherwise)

they don't say what they want to do, they don't even think that they can't actually change all that much in the euparliament. i don't think they think at all [/rant]

Fuck, school! Why would you go and replace the perfectly functional network login system with one that is buggy and overly complex for no reason and without telling anyone you were doing so?? WTF were you thinking?

Ugh! I am no longer the Volunteer Queen. After offering over 25 hours a week of time and being treated poorly for it will stop.

I have school full time, a cute little boy to take care of and other challenges of life.

No I will not write for free! No I will not keep something, sell something, buy something from or for you! Get it yourself! Smooch my butt! I'm busy havin' a life!

I just heard today that one of the super-duper-rich people my husband has to deal with at work has completely obliterated the toilet seat at his home with a sledge hammer... because some worker dude tiling his kitchen had dared to pee in it.

And it's not like the tiling guy didn't flush or something. Just the thought that his proletarian urine had passed through the plumbing was enough for this jackass.

Now excuse me while my mind boggles.

Now that would make me want to take a dump right in the middle of his Louis XIV desk.

Hah!!! Big Grin
I'll pay you.

One thing we've discovered in these past 5 years since my husband started his company, is that the truly, obscenely rich are very, very often simply horrible people.

And that the self-made billionaires love money more deeply and passionately than you could believe. The bickering, pettiness, jealousy and penny-pinching... It's pure comedy gold, especially when combined with this kind of occasional sledge hammer-wielding lunacy. It amazes me how my husband manages to deal with some of them day after day.

OK, so the first microwave wobbled and I packaged it back up (it's damn heavy, too) and drove aaaaall the way back to your store and yes, your workers were nice enough to take it out of the box and make sure this one didn't wobble, but this one only works intermittently. And so I have to chuck this thing in my car and go aaaaaaal the way back to your store and return it.

And I don't really fault your store - you have great sales on merchandise I want and can't find at any other store around - and so I will continue to shop your store, but.. Years ago you used to test your merchandise before you sold it. I realise it's stupid to expect that nowadays, but, I'm not pleased.

(oh, the microwave in question is a Panasonic Inverter. This is the second one I've had in the past few weeks and it's pants, it really is. I will be getting my money back, not just a replacement and not another Panasonic)

So I'm having lunch with Devlin in a small town pizza shop - we're in a booth and there are people in the booth behind us. They got done pretty much when we did (Dev wasn't as hungry as he thought, so we finished quicker than expected) throughout the meal it was apparent that he wasn't all together there, one of his friends is trying to get a jacket on him and suddenly he sees Dev's head and gets this mad look in his eyes, reaches over and grabs Dev's hair, at the roots, and yanks.

I instinctively knew that I shouldn't yell or reach for him, for fear of startling him, but I wanted so badly to scream at him! His friend tried to get him to let go, the woman in the group was so shocked.

I tried to be reassuring, I mean, it was obvious he wasn't having a good day - and apparently he either really liked Dev's fauxhawk or was afraid of it, but I really just wanted to scream and throw a fit of my own - he hurt my kid!

Do some people have no brain? Honestly, I'm asking here.

The people in question at the moment are those who, after posting a drawing on an art forum and asking for constructive criticism, then make a HUGE fuss and cry when someone points out the flaws in their work.
...
Just... what the hell?
-headdesk-

Also, the excuse "But it's my STYLE!" does NOT magically eradicate blaringly obvious anatomy faults. You need to learn how things look conventionally before you can distort them into any sort of 'style'.

-exasperated-

Also, I am increasingly irritated by people who have been drawing for years and whose art stays at the same shitty quality level. It sounds mean and judgemental, but it's REALLY not that hard to try drawing from life every now and then - or even looking up anatomy tutorials online, for heck's sake.

Found out today that my sister blew out her knee, had $120,000 stolen from her & may have a tumor in her Femur.

And that my Mom is much more broke than I imagined, just had a $40,000 lawsuit leveled against her & may lose her house.

Really glad my family never tells me anything, that way I can find out all the crappy stuff at once. Roll Eyes
