it is really hard to do your job when one person asks you to do one thing and then another person doesn't give you the information you need to do it. #dysfunctionalworkplace #iwanttocry

i work in a small office, not a lot of people, half the employees are old friends with the bosses. one of my coworkers is my close friend. we carpool together, and the other week we were late. we were written up and put on final warning. today, two of the employees who are friends with the bosses were as late as we were the other week, and they don't get in any trouble at all! i am seething at the favoritism here and trying to figure out my next course of action

and to add to that, this will be the second week in which i fail to get an actual payroll check and instead receive a handwritten check which i can only cash at two locations way the hell across town! i dont have a car so i need to take the bus and when i get off i wont have time to cash it and i need the money first thing tomorrow. when i asked to leave early i was told "it really doesn't look good and there's gonna be a lot of changes around here soon" etc etc

SOOOOO ready to really get crazy right now

Dear Head of English, I know you gave me this job doing your filing for you etc, and I know I need it. But if I had known just how stupidly annoying you can be (and this includes telling me the filing had to be in a certain order AFTER I'd done it)I would not have accepted. Also, 1. You can't teach English anyway, as proven by my year 10 when I was having to correct your spelling, 2. Your organisational skills are nonexistent, 3. You appear to expect me to be psychic, and it takes you at least 10 minutes to tell me exactly what you want me to do, and 4. Why have you hired me and the other one to do things that other teachers appear to be able to do themselves, such as opening your post. (For God's sake, woman, some of your in-tray went back to FEBRUARY!)In short, thanks so much for those headaches I go away with from your petty little job, when I still have homework and stuff to do after,(although I do enjoy the moments of humour your idiocy creates) and I fear that one day soon I WILL KILL YOU. If someone else doesn't first. If they do I will cheer.

P.S. All the teachers hate you too. Or at least they think you're useless.

Well, my employee review went well as far as comments on my work go. But as for the firm's decisions for the next year... I just don't even... I just can't even...

These old men are fucked in the head.

And that's all I can say about that for now, because it's all still confidential. I really should find something else. As that's so feasible when I'm 5 months pregnant.

My co-workers are debating whether to tell another employee that she's dating a man with a definite history of being an abusive alcoholic. I want to scream at them both that OF COURSE YOU TELL HER.

Wow, yeah. You can't prevent a person from making bad choices, but you can totally WARN one before they make a bad choice in the first place!

*****

I just learned that another person has been laid off at work. That makes 1) my coworker in LA, 2) my friend who lent me the baby book I've been using like crazy, and 3) that friend's boss. I'm told we're done with my department, but hey. Who knows. I know I can't be laid off without the mother of all lawsuits happening (hooray for being 5 months pregnant?), but it is just getting more and more depressing to work here.

All I can say is that if they ever get rid of my boss, I'm done.

i hate my job this week. i hate that my boss sent me a message at 5.10 this evening saying could i stay behind after our team meeting tomorrow for a 'quick chat about something', and now can't discuss it so won't tell me whether i need to worry or not. fuck.

Fuck.

Option One: stay in my job & watch someone's career get destroyed by a colleague.

Option Two: I can try & help them, but probably end up losing my job with no references as well.

Option Three:Resign, but I have 4k debt & no savings.

Basically someone has always wanted their job back from their replacement & they 've fabricated things in order to get that person sacked. I found this out accidently so there's no way of proving it. Presumably, they'd do the same to anyone who challenges the allegations.

The whole situation is just nasty.

Boss may be leaving for greener pastures before I even get to maternity leave (...but at least she's not getting fired?).

This will be an interesting year in my workplace, for sure! Pretty sure I'm doing to do something else starting in January.

You could persuade me quite easily, but maybe not Tongster, he's pretty attached to the bay area.

I've talked with my boss, she might end up poaching me in January, and bringing me to her new firm. We'll see. In the short term, it's looking like this might actually help to bring some warm bodies into our department. In the long term, it's not as good, but I'm not going to be here.
