Nice quote, thanks Chadder!
I love how people, in their race to try to make a statement against what went on in Iraq, are so keen to put down anything which might have gone on that they say stupid shit like this. |

There's a massive gap in those two statements. One says that chemical and biological weapons are a dire threat, that Saddam had developed them and that he was making a mockery of the inspection process. All true. The only bit you could prevaricate is the verb choice, "has been," which could either be read as, "he was doing it in the past and still doing it," or "has been known to do it in the past."
The second statement makes another true statement: even if Iraq had chemical weapons, to date there's been very little substantive evidence that Iraq was any sort of real threat to the U.S. Not to excuse Pelosi's previous pro-war vote at all - the woman has a tendency to vote in whatever direction will gain her the most political clout but won't betray her constituency overly much - but this isn't apples to apples here. __________ AJGraeme "You see, I have a policy about honesty and ass-kicking: if you ask for it, I have to let you have it." -Taylor Mali "I am a sexy, shoeless god of war." -Belkar |

A brilliant series of short films about the former conservative government in Spain (before the election they lost), feature the former Primer minister saying 'We never said Iraq had weapons of Mass destruction' and some ministers saying 'The PM NVER said that Iraq had WMD'. Followed by several clips of the former PM, in Parliament, at political meetings and TV stating 'We know for a fact that Iraq HAS WMD!'
It's a pity the films were never shown appropiately... |

I love how the current democrat presidential front runners scramble to get away from their votes for the Iraq War.
I dunno, if I was given the "evidence" that they were given, and told the same things that they were told. Although even at the time, there were weapons inspectors like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Ritter who said that the invasion was BS....but who listens to someone who has actually spent years in Iraq looking for WMD's? Seriously, read the article on him, he's really interesting. I went to hear him speak before the invasion. |

Reminds me of the fuss over John Kerry's military record. Something that doesn't really matter but that the Republicans will keep bringing up to keep the candidates from attacking the Republicans or talking about policy.
I think it's understandable that politicians could've been taken in by the Republicans on Iraq. There's no need for the Democrats to say any more about it. "Things to do. People to damage." sort-of vaguely here. |

Obama was against the war from the begining :-D
Anyway, people were mislead, the entire nation was lied to. I'd rather her admit to being wrong than continue to say that there were weapons of mass destruction in iraq. |
