Wild horses did drag her away, once - long story Member |
A number of you sweet people have been expressing a mixture of interest and concern about me, so here's a catch-up:
I am moving this weekend, yay, into a new and tiny but nice house. From the second floor back porch, we can see the steep not-quite-mountain where Laura Moon stabbed Low Key Lyesmith with a stick (those who know what I'm talking about and are nearby, we should get together sometime, and don't worry, I'm initially quiet and avoid meeting new people, but I'll warm up eventually My husband has a job at a really cool place that maybe has growth potential and is a good thing for his ad/hd and artistic personality, but . . . it pays not quite half what he was making here, and that wasn't terribly much. We are now officially poor. It's weighing on me because I haven't had a job for a month now and am fuh-reaking out, but I'm trying to be calm. Grad classes will start in July. I am taking two, and they will be short and intense but will still count as full semester classes. I don't know what my fall classes will be, but as long as I'm making progress toward the M.Ed., I'm a happy student. The best part so far is that I maybe, possibly, will have a job soon! I have been recommended to teach spec ed at a local high school. I pick up my "new hire" packet on Monday and I still have to jump through a bunch of hoops and fill out tons of paperwork and meet with administrators. But if I survive all that, I will be teaching in the fall! I am so so so excited. It's been tough getting everything packed and ready to go. This has been a great home and I will miss it. And I'm leaving behind some family, mainly my aging parents and my little sister who had her baby three weeks ago and both of them are still having medical troubles (I will be driving her and baby to the doctor for the fourth time in 12 days tomorrow). And quitting a job where I really loved my boss (when I left, he hugged me and said, "Thank you for being my friend" and I swear, it makes me cry just to write about it). My youngest son is really sad, my daughter is kind of sad, my two oldest sons are resigned to seeing their childhood and teenagehood home go away. And to make moving more interesting, my husband leaves on Sunday to travel for his new job for eight days, which means I'll be doing most of the moving in by myself. The new house is cute but so small and where are we gonna put our stuff? And where are my older kids going to sleep when they come to visit (we only have two bedrooms)? But where we're moving is a cool little town, so I'm hoping I will feel better about all of this soon... Thanks for all the kind support. *hugs* grace ********-------******** "this whole blonde doctor situation has me mortified" --- and I don't normally advocate music I love, but go see www.myspace.com/umbrellatree and thank me later! |

Exciting new advenures! ::vibes:: ::hugs:: We're here if ever you need us hon. G'luck! ~You are a *Taverner*. Sometimes patrons want to go where everybody knows their names, though it helps when half of them are named John. When people want to celebrate, or commiserate, they gather to your establishment. You provide the atmosphere, the warmth, rum, and even an ear to bend. Did I mention the rum? Years before the language will be mangled with terms like facilitator and networking and interpersonal communication, you've overseen it all, and broken up a few bar fights, to boot.~ -Royko |

My great-grandmother lived down the road from where Mr. Nancy ended up at the end. All Boardians should live near somewhere mentioned in a Neil book

I live near London...does that count?
"What should your role be? In that station to which God has called you, be who you are Madam. That is to say the person in relation to whom, by virtue of the principle of legitimacy, everything in your kingdom is ordered, in whom your people perceive its own nationhood, and by whose presence and dignity the national unity is upheld." -- General de Gaulle to Queen Elizabeth II, 1960 |

------ "Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don't learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying 'yes' begins things. Saying 'yes' is how things grow. Saying 'yes' leads to knowledge." ~Stephen Colbert |

I truly doubt he'll ever write write about Pennsyltucky. Although Peter S Beagle once wrote a road trip book and he drove past on Route 80, which is kinda near me.
