oh, my dear Amy...

i wish i knew. i sigh right along with you.

but let me see if i can figure anything out...the only time i can make a decision to do anything is once i've begun feeling more stupid about not having done it yet than i feel scared about doing it. so maybe when one is to give up, one must feel more stupid about persisting in an attempt that's achieving nothing than the amount of effort that one has already expended in the aforementioned attempt. when that threshold has been reached, perhaps it's no longer worth it.

does that make sense? i don't know. i hope so. good luck.

Rock and roll:

1. noun. a genre of music characterized by repeating guitar riffs and a strong back beat, often accompanied by vocals.

2. verb. the act of engaging in behavior metaphorically or literally related to rock and roll music.

3. FUCK YEAH!

dear cobalt,

i don't want to ruin things, but i'm starting to be tired of the situation i am in. five months already, and not a change.
i don't want to screw everything up, but when will i stop feeling this void inside of me if i don't start a new chapter?

love,
the relationship challenged girl

dear Alinda,

well, it depends. why are you tired of the situation? five months isn't really that long, in the greater scheme of things. if you're only annoyed because of a lack of progress because you think that things should have progressed by now, take a step back and think about how comfortable you are in general. if you're pretty comfortable, you probably don't want to do anything to disrupt that. if you're not comfortable, try to think about whether that's because the relationship isn't progressing at the pace you'd expected or hoped or wanted, or because you're just not comfortable in the relationship in general. where did you want to be by now? is that expectation reasonable?

if there's one question that guys hate to hear, it's "where is this going?" there's no good answer. we don't understand it. we don't want things to go places, we want them to stay where we left them. just bear that in mind.

hope this helps. keep us updated.

Truly,

Cobalt.

ah, the last minute. would anything ever get done without you?

do you feel pretty confident about what you ended up with, though?

I'm sorry about this possible Hijack, but hell... its what I do.
Admitted, I ussually don't know how to answer that question, but its not because i want things to stay where I left them. I just don't put expectations on such things. I feel its better to let them go where they will because if I try to force anything else, its just a lie.

yeah, the problem is that the answer i require isn't for "where is this relationship going?" but rather "where is this breaking up going?".
but then i suppose that five months aren't that long after all.
