Don't do it, fion.
If you want any hope of getting things back to the way they were, or of getting things to develop with him in the future, you gotta play the game.

You can't afford to be nuts at him, because either way it's sour.

It might make you feel better for a moment to send it to him, but likely enough you shoot yourself in the foot for good.

Be sane
*hugs*

Dear Event Organizing Woman,

If one of you had actually bothered to call and ask me if I was interested in giving the creative writing workshop, in stead of never getting back to me with any info (but nevertheless apparently publishing it on your schedule), I could've told you months ago that there's NO WAY IN HELL I'll do it for the breathtakingly lousy pay you're offering.

Yes, I feel sorry for everyone who already enrolled, and I do hope you can think of some kind of replacing act for them, because frankly, I doubt very much they'll all flock en masse to the "work through grief" or "learn to fold napkins" workshops.

It's just not my fucking problem. I'm sorry, but it isn't. I genuinely thought it wouldn't go through, since nobody contacted me with any kind of offer.

And the pay, WTF? It doesn't even cover the costs.

Yours, fuming,

Tis, if you know anyone going to the event, ask them to spy for you, and complain if the organisers say it's because you pulled out (thus putting the blame on you). I've seen too many crappy event organisers do that to trust them!

I'm actually sure you're right, Hive. I'm going to get the blame. No doubt all the participants will hear what a backstabbing bitch I am.

Meh, I'm done thinking about the whole thing. (Unless they make another attempt to guilt me into doing it, in which case I'll start breaking things. Just NOT. MY. FAULT. Dammit!)

Dear friends of mine,

Hey, how about making some time for ME for a change? I seem to remember when you were unemployed and I wasn't I'd make time for you. Now that it's the reverse you're suddenly too busy? What the fuck us up with THAT?!

Myself.

I know I'm definitely not going to send that one, but it's been weeks and I'm really lonely.

Letter to a Fellow Traveler

In offhanded search through thickets half-real,
Hikes up mirage hills, then a valley sculpted in pixilated snow,
In an icescape imaginary yet by both seen, we chanced
Speaking a language native to neither.

We admired each other’s habiliments
Packs and cloaks set with careless expertise.
We resolved for adventure and fortune
And to seek all worth seeing to the world’s end.

Collecting treasures small but not easily discarded,
We passed plates of truth like a camp supper.
Despite our better nature, an inventory day arrives for all;
The heart’s a pack rat, always space for a little more.

Satisfied but still not sated, willing sensations to unfold truly new,
We dashed through exotic climes to sojourn in tiny geographies.
Transient desperation twitched through the tips of our fingers
Into the ether and crashed crystallized like hot breath on a cold day.

Though we left those lands with little more than postcards,
No maps but the one’s we made with fitfully learnt skills,
I travel again with you now, no matter how distant or dear.
For turning home, we found like all who journey far:

Parts of us all, quietly and secretly alone
Think another’s feelings and feel another’s thoughts,
And slake our heart’s thirst from a foreign brook
Sparkling with reflection and ambiguity.

*Reads Primate poem*
*reads again*

You may just get a PM from me some time in the future asking permission to use that at a major life event.

Just saying.

[blushing furiously]

You don't need my permission to use anything at all I write. I'm just flattered silly that anyone bothers to read things I write, much less offer up compliments on the scale of yours.
