Thank you so much for saying this with such clarity and force - I couldn't agree with you more!

Quite honestly, during this election it's been difficult not to get the impression that for the GOP anything other than a narrow-minded, reductive perspective is un-American. If that were the case, then America would be in serious trouble.

Dear Belle,

you said you don't want a fuss because too many people are making a fuss already. You said you want to hear about the stuff I do because it distracts you up.

So I tell you about the stupid photo marathon I took part in and about the stupid shelves we rearranged in our stupid other room and the heaps of stupid books on the floor. I tell you about the fondue invitation I got and about Bea's stupid sheep with its stupid name.

I am sitting at work and my boss came in while I was writing your email. So I told him I had a cold and I blew my nose hard. I love you, Belle.

Love,
me

Dear friend:

We really moved on didn't we? Somehow, I'm not surprised that it was us, the two who were the most attached to stuff from elementary to high school and least likely to let go of these attachments to get even close to where we are today.

I always knew you had the potential and the ability to get what you wanted. Honestly man, if this were D&D, you would at least have a Charisma of 20. I'm not saying you're physically handsome or anything, that's something else -- but when you want to you have this infectious energy that can really energize a room and inspire people.

That was what made you so cool to hang out with, and role-play with. It also made you damn annoying, especially when you created jokes at my expense. There were honestly times I wanted to kill you. But you inspired me, a lot, and I would not have traded those games for the world or even the talks we had.

You know, in the end I think when we really got to hang out, it was even cooler than those now long-vanished epic level games. I still miss those games and the humour and the Lego figures you could manipulate so well. They were unique. I never have and never will find any like them ever in my life again. It was something we all had between us, our group (when we weren't trying to kill each other).

I know you're moving to Montreal, and I'm so glad your job is doing well and you are meeting so many people. Hell, you even have a girlfriend now. Damn man, what would the rest of them think of us now if they knew half of what we've done? I think they would suspect you more than me though.

Me, I was the quiet one and I admired you. But what I didn't realize, until later, was that you admired me too. I never would have admitted that long ago, and probably not even now. But there it is.

You made me laugh. And I will miss you.

Take care, man.

Until another time.

Dear Idiot on Other Forum,
Did you not notice when you read through that thread that my post that you commented on said that I wrote it Eleven Months Ago?? Do you think I care at all what you have to say about it now? Especially when you're being snippy and telling me to read the introduction to the pattern that may or may not have been there eleven months ago?

That is why I so very rarely check the forums at the site. You people are jerks.

Dear Union Thugs,

can you explain to me how you expect the university to lower fees and simultaneously raise your wages even beyond what they have already offered? i do not appreciate your threatening my education because you can't get along with the bosses of the institution you voluntarily chose to serve. die in a fire.

sincerely,

Cobalt.
