Much as I like comics, i'm an not immersed in the culture and don't know much about release dates, etc. When is the first issue of Gaiman's The Eternals going to hit the stands? Anyone? I've never done it before, but I simply must by this comic as it is released.

Any idea how many numbers he's going to do and if they will be collected in a book? It might be a long time to wait even if there's going to be a book at all.

I'm sure it's going to be a collected book at some point...I'd guess early - mid 2007. As far as how many issues, I think I read somewhere there's going to be six.

Raven, I'd recommend going to your local comic shop and asking them to reserve it for you. It usually doesn't cost anything, except maybe your phone number. But that way, you don't have to worry about issues selling out before you get them Smile

*has brief 1602 flashbacks*

Good thought, i'll do that. It shouldn't be a problem, I know the guys who work there pretty well. 1602, eh? What did you think of that? Although it had its moments, I think it was the least-incredible thing i've ever read by Gaiman.

least-incredible, eh? we Gaiman fans tend to be too polite sometimes Razz
had its moments, but most of it was worth the bin, in my very personal opinion!

Heh, yeah, that's a fact. But I didn't feel it was that bad, quite good compared to most of what's out there (not saying much) just dissapointing considering what Gaiman's capable of.

To me, 1602 felt completely different than anything else Neil had ever written. It felt like a full-on superhero comic with a Victorian twist. Very different from Sandman and American Gods. Not necessarily bad (in my opinion) but at the same time, it's definitely not one of my favorite things that he's done.

1602 was ok, i thought. Had some good moments, but Neil seems to completly disrespect my man Peter Parker, which left a rather sour taste in my mouth
Though i suppose this nebbishness may have been the point I still wanted more from him, both from a personal standpoint and his from his status in Marvel history

Two more comments: at his talk, Neil said he picked John Romita Jr 'cause he has the most Kirby-style art, which is cool

i also love how the ad says this will 'Change the Marvel Universe FOREVER'. Didn't House of M just do that? And Onslaught? And Avengers Reborn? Its pretty funny how much a comic book cliche that is

A good excuse to go check all the local bookstores in town. One of them is bound to have it.

And I kind of agree on 1602, it didn't get me as much as everything else. I just assumed it was because I'm not much into superheroes to begin with. Though I did think the one number he did on Superman+Green Lantern was really good.
