Hi gang - Happy Holidays
Just noticed a book by Neil listed on Amazon and was curious if it was a graphic novel (like sandman) or a book? Anyone read it and care to rate it? I'm a big fan - have read neverwhere american gods and good omens. Thanks in advance.

Marvel 1602 was an 8 issue series that came out last year. This must be the collected hardbound you are looking at. Being a Marvel fan and loving history, I really enjoyed it. I have heard some say it's not Neil's best, but it's all good to me.

It's a look at what Marvel's heroes and villains would have been like 400 years ago.

Hope this helps. Read it and enjoy!

Hey Chad what a quick answer, thankyou, but I still don't understand if it's a book or comic? The story sounds marvelous and I'd buy anything by Neil but I can't get into comics.

It's a hardbound graphic novel that is comprised of the 8 issues of the limited series comic. If that helps any.

hey there rigpig
1602 is a great comic, beginning to end, you'll see the heroes in a new light. Mr. Gaiman's script is just beautiful and, well, it really brings you in. Even if you don't like the " men in tights " books, check this out. You may even want to check out the relaunched Thor in early 2005, N.G. helped pitch the plot. thanx.

I WAS RIGHT! YES! I PREDICTED IT!

See, i've been babbling how Brian Micheal Bendis hinted that the new writer for Thor would give it huge, huge, huge sales... so i kept predicted it'd be Neil, since Neil loves Thor. and I was right. Go me

All I heard was that he pitched the plot, while someone else is supposed to be writing it.

Fox,
you are right . he pitched the plot. J.M. Straczynski, tweaked it a little, and i believe Mark Millar is writing it.

I just ordered 1602 through Chapters. For some reason I thought it came out later this year...should arrive soon. Hooray. I just love the idea because a) its about comic book/super heros which I still love even though I can't buy comics anymore and b) that's the time period I study.
