What is the legal situation at this time?Are we any closer to having reprints or new work?

I realise this is an old post, but I just saw it.

We're no closer to reprints I'm afraid (as I understand it).

Neil's case against Todd mostly just proved that Todd's purchase of Eclispe's assets didn't mean much. All he owned were a couple of logos (probably).

It's possible that when Eclipse folded and Miracleman went out of print the rights reverted to the previous creators (in this case Gaiman, Buckingham, Leach and Skinn)... BUT

It's not clear if they ever had any rights in the first place. It seems likely Skinn never had the rights and he misled Moore and Davis and Leach. It's also not clear who he could have gained teh rights from.

Mick Anglo claims ownership -- he wrote and drew the strip in the 50s and 60s. However he may have been working for hire for a company which has since gone bankrupt. Another company bought that companies assets but it's not clear if Marvelman/Miracleman was aprt of the deal.

Also, while Marvel seems to have struck a deal with Gaiman there is still the problem that Marvelman was a blatant ripoff of Captain Marvel, now owned by DC...

I don't know if this will *ever* be resolved...

It's a shame as it's a wonderful piece of work.
