All right, i've been cruising around here briefly (and not terribly thoroughly) and didn't see any mention of Neil's contribution to the compilation book 'It Was a Dark and Silly Night.' It was a collection of a number of comics by various writers and artists, with each story beginning with the line 'It was a dark and silly night...' Neil Gaiman did one of the best ones in the book, and I just was curious how widely known that was. I'd never heard of it until I shelved the book one day and happened to flip through it. Anyone?

Haven't read it (or even heard of it) but am very intrigued...I hope it'll be in one of the upcoming short story collections.

I doubt it. They were short, graphic stories, mini-comics if you will, and I don't forsee his being in a compilation. But it's well worth looking up.

For anyone wanting to obtain a copy, bibliographic info on the book can be found on our own GMZoe's visual bibliography site.

If your local library doesn't have a copy, you can request that they do an inter-library loan.

Although I kind of doubt many libraries, or even regions, will have it. It's not that well known or reknown. I just happen to work at a very eclectic library.
