Hey,

I was wondering, what exactly are the advantages of an audiobook? I'd like to buy one of Neil Gaiman, but I'm not so sure if it's really my thing. So, my question, why buy one?

ooh, because then you get to hear how he hears it in his head. at least, you do if you get a copy of something read by him. i highly recommend Coraline. it's had me creeped out enough that i had to turn it off and go do something else for a while.

"Are you a princess? I said & she said I'm much more than a princess, but you don't have a name for it yet here on earth."

-Brian Andreas

Limertilly: A pagan deity forgotten by man and therefore banished to the realms of memory and darkness now remembered by a young girl in downtown L.A. in the form of a dream and therefore freed to reap your revenge on the people who discarded you, thereby forcing said girl to learn to use her innate yet awesome powers as a soothsayer to gather forces of the Earth to defy you and once more banish you to your cold, cold prisoooooon

I listened to Coraline while I was sick in bed with a temperature in the dark, so not a good idea... It was very frightening. But also funny. I liked the cat.

And then I listened to Coraline read by Dawn French, and it's very good too.

Audiobooks are great to have someone "read you a story" before going to bed, or tolisten with your headphones in the bus.

I have several audio books by Neil because I love his voice and I like to listen to him read his works. It's the same reason that I like to attend his readings.

My advice would be to scout his page for some audio of short stories he must have online, listen to one of them. If you like it, it might be a good idea to get an audio book.

I've listened to Stardust the audio book on a relatively long flight and I might do the same with Fragile things. For some reason I have a hard time concentrating on reading anything while on a plane (not my favorite place to be). An audio book is easier that way.

Ok, from Neil's site, if you click on Cool things & stuff, you can listen to a chapter of Stardust.
