I went to see Neil do a reading and signing a little while ago. He read "The day I swapped my dad for a goldfish," a book I'd read but wasn't impressed with. But it was almost a whole different story with him reading it! I bought one of his audio CDs right away. It's the one with "The Wolves in the Walls" on it. I think he has several out now. Has anyone heard the others? What did you think?

From a creativity perspective, I love it, from a retailer's perspective, I hated it. In my year and a half working at Borders, three customers complained that we shouldn't have offensive material in the audio books . . .

I love the Coraline audiobook and prefer it to the book.

Those of you that have the Audio Collection and Speaking in Tongues, what do you think? I have Warning and Telling Tales, and I like them just fine. I know someday I'll have the other two, but wondering what anyone thinks. And what stories are on the Audio Collection (trying to get neilgaiman.net to open but it won't ... grrr..)

the Neil Gaiman Audio Collection has
The Day I Swapped My Dad For Two Goldfish
The Wolves In The Walls
Cinnamon (which is posted on neilgaiman.net)
and Crazy Hair (which will eventually be made into a children's book too)
plus it has a very cute interview with Neil conducted by his daughter Maddy

Yes! Just found it as well, on the main NG.com page rather than NG.net ... have read three of the four stories (I remember reading Cinnimon somewhere, but didn't remember it on NG.net ... Biting Dog perhaps? NG.com? Hmm...) I think this one will have to wait a while.

Is Neil doing the reading on it? I'm assuming that he's doing the reading on Speaking in Tongues?

yep, all the CDs are readings by Neil. There are samples at neilgaiman.net you can listen to. I've been busy enough with other things I haven't given SIT much airplay so I can't give a proper review

I listened to "Telling Tales" again today, and enjoyed it until I got to the end ("Epilogue") and wondered, why on earth is there a 16 minute track of drumming when it could be filled with 16 more minutes of stories!

Has anyone ever heard a compelling reason why such a decision was made?

My favorite at the moment is Speaking in Tounges...
The second track, a poem called "Instructions" is my favorite from that CD.
