Over the past few years, people have had a lot of fun discussing whether or not Neil's books would work as movies and who should play who.

Here's a slightly different angle: Which of Neil's shorter works is best suited to film? (And if you desire, say who you would want to see play the roles therein)

"Changes" would make an interesting film. I like the idea of having films within films in it.
"We Can Get Them For You Wholesale" could be reworked into quite an interesting horror movie.
I also quite like the idea of seeing the character Lawrence Talbot on screen, but I don't know if any of his stories would have copywright issues, particularly the Innsmouth one.

can't the Innsmouth stuff get by under parody laws? i've seen 'Shoggoth's Old Particular' shirts at the local sci-fi shop

one of my friends put the 'We Can Get Them For You Wholesale' thing into an RPG. i think the character got to the point where he was paying for the death of whole countries

"Shaggoth's" is, but it would be harder to prove with "It's Only Then End of The World Again," which is much darker.

I think The Wedding Present would make a good film.

In the right hands Murder Mysteries would be interesting, but it's so hard to do Angels without looking silly, or tacky.

Wasn't "We Can Get Them For You Wholesale"'s title a reference to the Philip K. Dick story, "We Can Remember it For You Wholesale," which in turn was sort of the basis for the misguided but fun Governator film, Total Recall?
Actually, I'd like to see "Chivalry" made into a film. Great to go see with my grandparents. Or either of the "Two Plays for Voices."

Relax, you fiends! I'm only joking.

As long as they don't touch Books of Magic (any of them) I'm cool.

Nobody. Messes. with. the. Hunter.

at least not in the way DC's been handling Vertigo in film.

"Chivalry" would make a great, quirky movie, the sort of thing that people go to short film festivals for. I really wish "The Price" had been written in the heyday of anthology science fiction because it would have been amazing in that format. Drawn out into a whole movie, it would be less than impressive, I think, but as a half hour, maybe even an hour, it'd be very cool.

And "A Study in Emerald," of course.
