Okay, Neil better have something big planned for him... if he treats Marvel's main man and my personal hero/role model as nothing better then a running joke, i'll be rather pissed. I mean, its pretty true to the character that fate pisses on him... but he gets some breaks, dammit. Like having powers.... Alright... i guess i'll reserve my judgement until i read the story... but if they reduce him to nothing more the comic relief... well.... LON SMASH! (Is the Hulk around? And does Pete at least know that with great power comes great responsibility? And what about Squirrel Girl?)

I think issue 8 is where he finds that out.

Mystique's in it, too? I guess i'll check it out in trade... its just i've never really bothred. I should be interested, but the reaction is so mixed... i keep dreading opening it up and seeing some of my fave chars mangled. Then again, DC does this sort of thing all the time (puts its characters in completly different time periods, like Superman working for Communist Russia), so i dunno what i'm so scared about....

And hey... it won't be as bad as most of the MARVEL MANGAVERSE, right? (yes, at this point i'm just making semi-obscure references rather then contributing... mostly i'm bored) Hmmmm... has Neil brought Thor in yet? He seems to like the char in his various incarnations, and you figure he'd play with the Marvel Fabio version

a slaughterhouse worker? Wasn't that Czernobog not Thor?
It's still very much the Marvel Thor. He hasn't done much to distinguish himself.
I've finally figured out how to describe 1602 to myself - it's Marvel soap opera without the Marvel battles.

Hmmm... it probably was. I gotta that confused in my head. Thor being "normal"... i can see that. There's no reason for him to be different in this setting, and when written well he's very, very, very cool. Marvel soap opera without the battles... i think i'll pick it up, then. I tend to like those sort of stories, when well-written...

I think, Thor is as he would be at this point in time. So, not necesarily the Thor we're all used to, but rather the Thor without the four more centuries of baggage and turmoil.

You know, I had no expectations for '1602' - I used to be big into comics when I was in highschool, but fell out of it university, abd I'm only now getting back up to speed. All I knew about '1602' was that Neil Gaiman was writing a comic. And that was good enough for me.
I like it - it's rambling, and convoluted, but also cunning and at times sad. I can't wait for issue 8. I think the series has definitely gained momentum - the first few didn't really thrill me, though I liked them, but since issue 5, I get all tingly.

Don't worry Batjedi, though you aren't alone in missing it, I'm not with you. Issue 8 is going to have extra too, I'm so excited. I wonder how all of it will end. Is anyone else going to buy this as a TPB as well?
