1. the death movie? in development hell with the sandman movie or has something(anything) definite been decided yet?

2. marvel 1602(one of the best comic series ive ever read) has anyone read the continuation of it, marvel 1602- a new age?

1. No. First, Neil is not involved with the Sandman movie but he is greatly involved with Death. Second, as of January 2005, he was still working on the third draft script to Death. I haven't heard any news since then, but as it has been worked on within the last year with no bad news since, I wouldn't worry. Hollywood has been known to be long periods of wait with a sudden rush of activity.

2. I haven't read it myself. I've only seen one person refer to it on this board, and it was not a positive review.

i dont see how SANDMAN is the one of the last vertigo comics to be made into a movie. i just pray that its better than constantine and hellboy. v for vendetta looks promising....but if its out of neils hands im sure itll be crap.

at least theres hope for death.

and seeing as 1602 was so good(at least in my opinion) i dont see how a new age could suck too much...

Well, there was just the one opinion on New Age here, but it is a different creative team doing it so the quality of one does not guarantee equal quality of the other

The Death movie was "greenlit" sometime in 2005, with Neil as the director. He's said publicly, on his last book tour, that it may start filming as early as spring of 2006.

I really enjoyed Marvel 1602, and so I have no interest in reading the sequel, since it's a.) not by Neil and b.) a sequel. Your mileage, etc.

I asked Neil about the movie after his talk tonight. He says the studio hasn't given it a green light, more like "blinking orange." They want him to cut about four million dollars from the budget. So negotiations are continuing.
