juz luuurve gaiman's version of Snow White in his collection of short stories in Smoke and Mirrors. i think it's more realistic to say that snow white wuz a villain. after all, that "wicked" stepmother must've had a good reason to want her butchered. and skin as white as ivory, hair as black as ebony, and lips as red as rose...when you think about it, she does have the profile of a vampire. it's kewl.

snow glass apples is one of my favorite stories ever written.

I dont think the girl was a "vampire" though. Vampires die if you remove or destroy the heart. She didnt. she was just some demonic thing that should not have ever existed.

I consider it the best story in the book, it really fascinated me how you can turn a known fairy tale into a much different story and the characters change from good to bad avice versa, it may also be an interesting idea for a movie...

'snow, glass, apples' is amazing, especially those last two lines. i first read it at the dreaming, and then again not too long ago when i finally got around to picking up 'smoke and mirrors' - i hold it in second after 'the sweeper of dreams'.

Hi I´m new and I wouldn´t like to start by contradicting these opinions.
First let me say that I admire Neil´s work. He was come to a point as a writer that I would like to achieve.
**Spoilers**
I just finished Smoke and Mirrors and the last story, the one about this thread (at least in the spanish edition) really shocked me.
The main idea I think is wonderfull to picture the Queen as the heroine of the story. But to include all those images about a "thing" that has the body of a little girl doing all those sex things. I just think is wrong for a writer to "force" the reader to imagine those things.
If you asked me before reading that story I would have said that the book was a solid ten but then I felt dissapointed.
Did it happen to anyone else??

Greetings Frodo.
