I really hope this film gets made!
Here are my thoughts on casting....
I think Natalie Portman would be great as Door. I kinda of saw her when I was reading the book. Never considered Ellen Paige though she could be good too.
I like the idea of Martin Freeman as Richard. I love Ewan McGregor but I'm not sure he'd be right for the part. What about James McEvoy though?
Rose McGowan, Eva Green, Christina Ricci and Helena Bonham Carter would be great Velvets.
I agree that Vinnie Jones would be great for Mr Vandermar, but here's an idea... Javier Bardem? Pity about the accent though!
Even though I can't stand him, I do agree that Cilian Murphy could be a good Islington. Or what about Jude Law? Don't much like him either, but he has the right sort of look... As much as I love Ian McKellen I do think the role calls for someone younger.
If skin colour wasn't an issue I think Johnny Depp would make a great Marquis...
And definately Simon Pegg for Gary, great idea!
Agree too that Naomie Harris is perfect for Hunter. Though I wouldn't mind seeing Angelina Jolie in that role either.
Agree with everyone who said Michael Gambon and Bob Hoskins should be in it, in whatever role!
Someone suggested Colm Meany for Mr Croup, I think the role would suit him.
Not too concerned with who plays Jessica. I do think Sienna Miller is too "nice" looking though.
I love Richard E Grant and Alan Rickman too, so they could play any role!
I think it's really important to get the right people for the parts... but it's fun speculating
