My wife and I have both asked the question again and then later again and then later again, what happens when Black Cat who moves like the night, dies?

Is The Price that the cats will send another warrior or has the The Price been paid with a single Champion?

I always thought "the price" is the fact that, in order to keep his family safe, the author must let the cat fight and, ultimately, die.
I like that you don't know if the cat's been sent by someone or not, or what will happen next. It makes it scarier Smile

I also thought that the patriarch of this family (who's the only one who knows about what happens to the cat, right?) is the one paying the price. but, if it's the cat who's paying a price, then that brings up a ridiculously fascinating question: what debt is he paying off?

it could be that sacrificing one cat is the price for the shelter cats receive in the house. which is a nice little bit of karma, I think.
