One of my favorite Gaiman short stories. Written well before Wicked, this short story reminds me of Angela Carter, who wrote wonderful post-modern interpretations of Perrault's fairy tales. If you get the chance, check out her versions of "Bluebeard" and "Little Red Riding Hood."
