Here's what I've come up with, most have already been said before.

Nicholas Fury - Nick Fury
Doctor Stephen Strange - Doc Strange
The Old Man - Not Sure at this point
The Winged Man - Warren Worthington/The Angel
Ballad of the Fantastick/ Sir Reed - Fantastic Four/ Reed Richards
Matthew Murdoch - Matt Murdock / Daredevil
Peter Parquagh- Peter Parker / Spider-man
Count Otto Von Doom - Gaiman has said he is an ancestor of Victor Von Doom /Dr. Doom
Clea - Strange's Wife
Grand Inquisitor - Mageneto, since the two with him are his "Witchbreed"/mutant children And since hs is the enemy of Javier
Sister Wanda - Scarlet Witch
Petros - Quicksilver
Javier - Prof.Charles Xavier
Virginia -- ??
Rojhaz - Steve Rodgers / CAPT. America. Since the only way you can have some one really representing an American, is a Native American
Man in green who attacks Fury - Not sure.
Scotius Summerisle -- Scott Summers / Cyclops,
Robert Trefusis -- Bobby Drake / Iceman,
John Grey -- Jean Grey / Pheonix (apparently disguising herslf as a man.)
Capt. Nelson - Foggy Nelson

Wow, I only caught about half of those... but my thought about Virginia was just that she wasn't a superhero at all, but rather Virginia Dare (the first person of Europrean descent to be born on North America). Because, she was from Roanoke, and she was referred to as "the first child born in the colonies".. er... yeah. So I figured she was just supposed to be the historical figure, and not a hero. But then she does have the white hair and she came up in the mirror was the "cause of the strange weather"... so maybe she's supposed to be Storm... also?

*shrug*

And, I'm a female Neil fan who likes superhero comics but never actually reads them. (Or, I suppose I should say, very very rarely.) So most of my superhero knowledge is based on vague memories of childhood cartoons. (Or movies.) So... yes.

HI I was looking at my copy of 1602 and on the back in the bar code box it says "direct edition" what does that mean? Are there other editions?
Thanks Smile

That refers to buying a comic on the news stand vs in a comics shop. Both editions are the same except for that box, and both are considered exactly the same in price guides

Here's a link to a basic fan site I developed while experimenting with cascading style sheets, <div> overflow, and such:

http://www.shadowcatblue.com/1602/

The quality of the illustrations and coloring made it such that I didn't have to do any touch-ups to the image scans.

Have Fun!

A couple notes:

I don't have my copy here to verify it, but I remember thinking that the man in green who attacked Nick Fury looked an awful lot like The Vulture.

Also: I had thought that the old inquisitor guy was Magneto, too, until I remembered that Magneto was Jewish. This may or may not be a hiccup, especially taking the race changes into consideration.

Although the Vision is easier to play off than Iron Man... he could be
some sort of golem. -chuckles- Just a thought.

I agree. I think it would be nice to have the Vision appear in the series as a Golem.

Nice idea.... Vision is actually the body of the original Human Torch, the first character in the MU.... having him be a golem or a Frankenstien's monster type thing works perfectly.

Though Ben Grimm (the Thing) looks more like a golem, and his old rabbi even made the connection in a recent FF ish.

Has Dr. Doom changed much? He's already a monarch of his own kingdom... armored... uses magic. All they need to do is tone down the science bit (which Waid did in the mainstream continutity) and he's set...

To me, "The Old Man" looks like The Ancient One, Dr. Strange's mentor from his comic book.

Virginia's blue eyes/white hair and linkage to the strange weather makes me think she is Storm.

In the regular Marvel Universe, Foggy Nelson is Daredevil's friend and law partner.

"Blue area"...good one!

I wish I could claim credit for Peeping Uatu, but I actually stole it from a joke issue of "What If?" In it, Uatu has a line: "Men call me The Watcher. WOMEN call me Peeping Uatu."

I loved that issue. It asked such probing questions as "What if Cyclops' force blasts came out of his ears instead of his eyes?" (If he took off his ruby quartz earmuffs for even a second, his power would be out of control.)

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that it was a series of pieces from different artists and writers.

I meant that ish... i know WHAT IF was written by different writers.

I also think it should be revived with Marvel's current talent.

No no. I meant that issue too. It was an issue with a bunch of different joke "what if" scenarios, each being at most a couple pages long and each created by a different artist. I remember Humbeck(sp?) did "What if Aunt May were Ant Man?" and I think some writer who always wanted to draw submitted a completely black panel entitled "What if Black Panther and Cloak fought Shroud in an abandoned coal mine?"

I don't think that Viriginia is Storm due to the fact that she wasn't introduced before 1969.
