I thought that the guy who attacked Fury could have been Toad, but I think the Vulture fits better.
Virginia Dare is a real historical figure. Read the annotations. They have MANY interesting theories about characters (Hulk, whatever happened to the Fantastic Four, etc.). |

got my copy of #2 today!!
anxiously awaiting part 3 . . . . "all I've known, all I've done, all I've felt was leading to this" |

I'm going to run this up the flag pole and see who salutes...
[First, a disclaimer: I haven't read 1602 #1.] I got 1602 part 2 today, read it, and wasn't particularly impressed. It struck me on first reading as being a "Marvel set in the seventeenth century" kind of comic. For the most part, I would probably play "spot the Marvel character", if I was into Marvel comics. But I'm not, so aside from picking up the obvious characters, I wasn't all that impressed. However, this is from only reading the second comic. If I went back to the first issue, would I find more to pique my interest? |

Okay, I'm pretty sure this is wrong, but is there any chance Snowbird (of Alpha Flight) was introduced before 1969? Between Virginia's elfin appearance and her turning into a white flying beastie in the last panel (note the blue eyes), that's my current best-guess as to who Virgina "really" is.

I think that Virginia is an inhuman and that Roanoke is that Inhuman city, the name of which I can't remember.

Anyone know if there is a big bird like Virginia in Amerindian mythology? Maybe they already had a Hulkest caractere, who when is angry, turn into something powerfull. I' ll try a little search on the web when i' ll have some time.

Angry? Powerful? Canadian? There's Sasquatch, a sceintist who, like the Hulk, got mutated with gamma rays and turned into a furry monster. there's Wendigo, both the spirit and the hairy X-Men villian. there's Wolverine, the Canuklehead....

I love how they're playing Rojhaz... especially when he grabs that tray and flings it like a frisbee (or a shield)... I thought the first assassin lookeed like the Vulture, but the second one was certainly the Vulture... so maybe all three of them are?
Still no fucken clue about Virginia... I know that Virginia Dare is historical, but Neil gave her shapeshifting powers, so who knows? Certainly not Storm, both because of her new powers, and because Neil has specifically stated that he only uses the original five X-Men. ***"Well, seeing that today certainly is my day - why don't you call me Wednesday? A shifter? What about Mystique?
And if its original 5, maybe its Jean Grey with advanced TK/telepathy to cloud people's minds? Excelsior! ~~~~~~~~~ Join the Church of the Risen Morrison! No, I think she only changes into that giant bird thing at the end of issue 2.
And Jean Grey has already shown up in the X-Men group. ***"Well, seeing that today certainly is my day - why don't you call me Wednesday? Mister Wednesday. Although given the weather, it might as well be Jcizenman, eh?"*** http://www.chenjiyue.com |

Maybe the first assassin was Toad or Bullseye?

I think Uatu hit it dead on -- my vote's for Snowbird.
The hair color's the same; the fact that the animal into which both transform are completely white in color; both have some background about their births and being tied to their respective lands (Snowbird to Canada, Virginia Dare to the colonies). Well done, Uatu! |

I have a vision: Red Skull as The Inquisitor...
I am, at this point, believing that the 1602 story 'happened'' for real, and for some reason(like Heroes Reborn) they kind of like 'reincarnate'' in 1950-60... Does Franklin is pre 69? Wich important pre 69 heroes/bad guy does'nt have showned yet? And i still thinks Otto Von Doom, the Handsome, may have some Octopus inside him.. Maybe the villains are mixed up? A splitted Vulture, and a fusioned Doom-Octopus? Also, for me there is the mysterie of the guy to who Doom talk in page 11.Are i am wrong? Last question, does anyone knows if issue number one sold out? One thing for sure, my copy is not mint anymore, as i'm always rereading it to find clues... |

Haven't read it. I've been bluffing questions based on what people have been saying... the bird shadow reminded me of the end of X2 and, well, Phoniex.

quote: NEWMAN!!! . . .and I was just starting to dig the Snowbird theory, too. But thanks for the info, Halexx! Neil's journal today references the story that the real Virginia Dare turned into a white doe and was ultimately killed by a silver arrow. I guess I fall under the "ignorant American" category, because I've never even HEARD of that story! |

In his journal today, Neil makes reference to legends about the real Virginia Dare in which she surived the disappearance of Roanoke and in later years turned into a white faun.
So, I guess in 1602 we're dealing with a shapeshifting Virginia Dare. |
