Has anyone considered the possibility that this whole thing might've been arranged by Doom? I mean, time travel's well within his grasp, maybe in his research he discovered an alternate reality where he could conquer all of his foes more easily and set up Latveria as a major power base. Think about it: right now, Latveria's a relatively small, unimportant state. High technology, but backward in a lot of ways. If, on the other hand, Latveria controlled all of mainland Europe, it could be the new Rome.

I read the first issue of 1602, and found it...a little disapointing, because their were sooo many characters shoved in, and that made the story all over the place, and I know who the characters were, so that wasen't the problem. I know that's Neil Gaiman's style, he tends to make stories that are all over the place in the beginning, and then bring it together, but with a million central characters, it was kinda crazy. To anyone (with a reasonably critical opinion) who has read the next couple issues: are they worth getting? Does the story get really good, or is it going in the same direction as the first issue? I'm new to this message board so cut me a little slack. quote: Originally posted by Ryan Higgins: Hey all, this is the list I've been running for us over at MillarWorld.biz. I haven't had time to go through issue #3 yet, but here's my list. One of the ones few people agree on is the identity of the Assassin #1 that attacked Sir Fury in the first issue, but I'm pretty sure it was The Vanisher.
Sir Nicholas Fury - Nick Fury Doctor Stephen Strange - Dr. Strange Old Man - Thor, perhaps Odin? (could just be an old man) Peter Parquagh - Peter Parker (Spider-Man) Count Otto "The Handome" Von Doom - Dr. Doom Matthew "Sir Devil" Murdoch - Matt Murdock (Daredevil) Clea - Clea Sister Wanda - Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) Petros - Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver) Carlos Javier - Professor Charles Xavier (Professor X) Grand Inquisitor - Magneto James of Scotland - real person Rojhaz - Steve Rogers (Captain America) Virginia Dare - real person Assassin #1 - Vanisher Captain Nelson - Foggy Nelson Scotius Summerisle - Scott Summers (Cyclops) Robert Trefusis - Bobby Drake (Iceman) John Grey - Jean Grey Sir Werner - Warren Worthington III (Angel) Sir Reed - Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) Master McCoy - Hank McCoy (Beast) Natasha - Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) David (King James' assistant) - ? Uncle Benjamen - Ben Parker Assassin #2 - Vulture Bird Creature - Phoenix?

Virginia in my opinion is Snowbird. I also believe Assassin #1 is Toad and #2 is Banshee. #1 is more of a guess, but #2 is because of the costume. Vulture can't fly without wings, and assassin #2 didn't have wings. He basically had streamers under his arms, which Banshee has had in the past. So if that is the case, it could be a version of the Brotherhood of Mutants formed by the Inquisitor. Also in Issue #4 we are introduced to a couple of new people at Doom's castle. A blonde haired man surrounded by water and someone we don't see who is talented in technology and science. I believe the blonde haired man is Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) and the hidden man is Reed Richards. Could it be that a Doom has finally accomplished his life long ambision and defeated the Fantastic Four, imprisoning them? Interesting.

Oh definitely. And their 'friend' who was shaking the mountain is Captain Benjamin Grimm So cool he could shake the mountain with his strength. Maybe he'll break through something some day? I like your theory of mutants for the assassins, but I'm predictably sceptical. Your suggestion of Banshee is very interesting, but two things suggest otherwise to me: the ruffled collar and baldness more strongly suggest Vulture, tho they could just be tricks by Andy Kubert , also did Banshee appear before Gaiman's 196-whatever cutoff date? I think he was intro'd same time as or after Storm, so since she isn't going to be in it, anyone after he couldn't be either.

Virginia Dare is a historical figure. She's a shapeshifter and not part of the X-Men universe.

Speaking about whether or not it is historically accurate, I'm half Indian, and grew up on the reservation surrounded by other Indians: there just isn't a lot of blond Indians running around now, much less 400 years ago. I'm happy about the list of characters someone left earlier. I don't read a lot of comics and its nice to have something to reference.
