Well, it is one fat guy mocking another fat guy, so there's a definite hypocrisy there.

Brando was definitely of ... significant dimensionality.

However, given that, the fact that he lasted to be 80 years old is pretty impressive.

Still, I never got the feeling that he was Mr. Congeniality. And speaking of Muppets, I personally feel that Jim Henson's untimely death (years ago now) was far more of a tragedy.

You are a Confectioner. Who can take a sunrise and sprinkle it with dew? Actually, that's Bob The Enchanter, two doors down on the left. But you make delectable treats, which is no simple feat considering Oompa Loompas won't be invented for three centuries. Not only do you delight with your sweets, but you've paved the way for a new profession: dentistry!

Hmm... scratch that.

He may still have had his talent.

He was just too damn crazy to take advantage of it.

My friend at work yesterday:

Friend: So Rain, on the way here the radio announced the autopsy results for Mr. Brando.

Me: Oh wow, really? That poor guy. Did they find out what went wrong?

Friend: Well, they found Jimmy Hoffa.

I tried it on two seperate people today, but both failed to supply the "did they find what was wrong with him" line. So I had to spell it out for them. They BOTH groaned, and I had laugh at the joke all by my lonesome.

Frown Stupid people not saying the stupid line.

Fernandez Santos, co-writer of the magnificent "Spirit of the Beehive" is dead. I'm pretty obsessed with this movie. It's kinda like Ray Bradbury meeting Terrence Mallick in post-civil war Spain. Strange as Hell.

----------------------------------------------

"Fernandez Santos was a prominent Spanish film critic and columnist for El país. He collaborated with his good friend Victor Erice on the script for The Spirit of the Beehive (1973) and also worked on El Sur (1983). He directed a short, El Último inquilino, in 1967.

Major Spanish newspapers today carried obituaries, commenting on the fact that Mr. Santos had been deeply affected by Marlon Brando's death and was preparing to write an article on his life and work, despite being terminally ill with cancer."
