So, it's a bit last minute, but I'm going to D.C. for a 4-day weekend to visit my best friend. However, while he's at work Thursday and Friday, I'll be exploring the city on my own. Any suggestions? Anyone want to try to meet up?

The Newseum is awesome. If you're interested in journalism. As is the Spy Museum. If you're interested in spying.

If you feel like taking the 3-4 hour trip up to State College, you could come up and see my show. It'll be running both Thursday and Friday.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to come down. Work and show. Have fun, though!

I like the Natural History museum.... and the Lincoln memorial

The Cathedral crypts are nice... I forget which school trip that was. (growing up around here = half of the field trips are in D.C.)

(and there's MD Renn Fest, but that's only sat-sun. and I don't know if you feel like going that far.)

You're missing Takoma Park Folk Fest by one week...

Newseum and Spy Museum are lovely but expensive and the various art galleries are nice, I especially love the Peacock Room at the Freer.

Silk Underground and I are going to the Renn Faire on the 20th if you wish to join us. I might be able to meet up with you Friday depending on when and where.

Hey, how is Captain Silky? She needs to come visit.

Give her a squishy hug for me please Smile 'Feelia, and keep a big one for yourself.

She's doing well. Busy, but well (so busy she's going to miss Neil *again* when he is in town in a few weeks). I will definitely pass on the hug to her.

I'll be in Baltimore, but not 'til Sunday, and I won't be free to party until ... well, pretty much I won't be, unless I decide to stay until Friday, which is pretty unlikely.

One of these days, though, I'll actually go to a city where I can hang out and there'll be people to eat! er, meat. Yeah, that's it.

No longer in DC, but if you drive about 2.5 hours you could visit the historic house where I work!

I love the FDR memorial, it's on the mall and a nice walk. And while I've not taken the DC one, the double-decker open top sightseeing bus is owned/run by a company I like from the UK (City Sightseeing).
