Nyssa and Grace have a showdown extraordinaire. Nyssa with 113 points with Manning and AP still to play?!? Damn...

I do like how PPR is working for everyone. It's making WRs relevant. Quite a few close matchups and too many injuries.

My rule has always been...don't play it safe. And I know I should stick with my rules. But did I? No, I listened to common wisdom, and went with LT for my first draft pick. Why?!?!?!

If my team is gonna suck, at least it could be because I picked iffy players...per the last 2 years...hmmmmmmm...

But yeah, there are some majorly big scores going on this first week! Eek

Yeah, I guess 26 points between the two might be possible. With my football luck I would not count on it. Razz
I need 41 points to beat Tongster. We will see..... Smile

One of my favorite FF info sites does not seem to be updating any more. They had a nice "start or sit" section I used last year.

Not playing fantasy, but this seemed like the place to mention that the Seahawks hurt my brain and my heart today.

Yeah, thanks for Carson Palmer, bud. I think it's Kitna Time.

My Panthers won! Against the Chargers! At San Diego! w00t!

...in fantasy news, my stud RB sucked it up, but my 2 stud WRs did well for me. 1-1 opening week is OK.

Puddinhead!

Are you sure Kitna is an upgrade at QB? Detroit lost to Atlanta. And their rookie QB.

Holy injuries, Batman! *shakes head* what a crazy Week 1. We should all take a step back and take a breath and remember, it's still early. Wow.

That Brady injury is devastaing. I haven't heard if the Vince Young injury is serious. Brodie Croyle out. Jets kicker Nugent was out. Addai and Barber sat the 4th quarter with head and rib problems. Probably not serious, but still...McGahee still nursing the hurt. Payton looked tentative until it was too late.

Strange week 1.

Tim Rattay and Chris Simms? These are the guys they're bringing in to try out for Brady?

Buffalo puts up impressive balanced numbers, the Jets and Miami go to the wire with the Jets pulling out the win with their new HOF QB, the Pats eek out a win over KC while losing their HOF QB, and suddenly the AFC East is looking interesting. Not dominant, but very interesting.

Dallas and Philly rolled (though to much lesser teams?), the Giants D looked fast (though to a new, wary offense), and the Skins have 'potential', showing that the NFC East could be the toughest division again this year.

The Cardinals, while some (me) say they should have put up bigger numbers against the Niners, put up a balanced offense and played enough to win. I think the Niners will be right there with them, and Seattle and St. Louis will be lucky to pull together 8 wins ... combined. The Rams were supposed to be better, last year was supposed to be a fluke, but they sure didn't show it. Wow. I didn't see enough of Seattle to say, but then maybe that's the point.

Does anyone else (besides Grace) remember the Titans winning 10 games and making the playoffs last year? Does anyone think they're better with Young injured and Collins leading the squad? Does anyone else believe in that run D that was pretty stout last year, and looked good again in Week 1? With Indy losing and looking vulnerable, and the Jags and Texans slow start, the AFC South could be interesting early.

Baltimore was lucky they played Cinci, and their D kept them in the game. Cinci was Cinci, nuff said. Cleveland's D won't win them any games, and they need to stop dropping catchable balls. The Steelers are going to roll the AFC North if they keep it together. That was impressive.

Atlanta?! Well, they were playing the Lions. I'll reserve judgement. Carolina put together a nice last minute win, and the Saints O looked as good as advertised. I didn't see the Saints/Bucs game, but the Bucs put up decent balanced numbers, they were playing the high powered Saints offense *shrug* the NFC South could be another interesting one to watch.

That lease the AFC West and the NFC North for MNF. Stay tuned!

Jason Smith (or was it their guest guy, hmmm, the Vike's old WR, Carter) on Mike and Mike this morning said they should bring in C'pep for a tryout, with Moss there, reignite the old connection. That'd be interesting.

Too bad Culpepper pretty much told the entire league screw off in his retirement letter.

Let's see . . . 2 TDs and 1 INT, against 0 TDs, 1 INT, and a 35.3 passer rating. Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson vs. T.J., Ocho Cinco, and Chris "Coach Doesn't Want Me But Owner Does" Henry. Both teams will play from behind a lot, and throw the ball a lot.

Sad as it may be to say, I like Detroit's chances over Cincinatti's this year.

I may be overstating things. Here's the text:
quote:
Farewell NFL

When Free agency began this year, I had a new sense of excitement about continuing to rebuild my career in the same way that I had rebuilt my knee after my catastrophic injury in 2005. Unfortunately, what I found out was that the league did not share any of the optimism about me as an Unrestricted Free Agent that I expected. In fact, there was an overwhelming sense that there was no room for me among this year’s group of quarterbacks; whether in a starting, competing or a back-up role. No matter what I did or said, there seemed to be a unified message from teams that I was not welcome to compete for one of the many jobs that were available at the quarterback position. It seems that the stance I took in both Minnesota and Miami regarding my rights as a person and player has followed me into Free Agency.

After taking a long look at my career and my personal convictions, I have decided to begin early retirement from the NFL effective immediately. Since the beginning of training camp I was told that my opportunity would come when a quarterback gets hurt. I cannot remember the last time so many QB’s have been injured during the preseason. I have been strongly encouraged from family, friends and league personnel to continue to be patient and wait for an inevitable injury to one of the starting quarterbacks in the league. I would rather shut the door to such “opportunity” than continue to wait for one of my fellow quarterback’s to suffer a serious injury. Since I was not given a fair chance to come in and compete for a job, I would rather move on and win in other arenas of life.

The decision I made in 2006 to represent myself rather than hire an agent has been an invaluable experience. I now understand why so many people within the NFL community are uncomfortable with a player really learning the business. The NFL has become more about power, money and control than passion, competition and the love of the game. Regardless of this shift, player’s rights are still supposed to be a part of this league. Since I will not be given the opportunity to honor the memory of Gene Upshaw by wearing a patch on my uniform this year, I will instead spend some of my energy applying what he taught me about standing up for what is right and not sitting down for what is clearly wrong.

I want to thank my family and my fans for their unwavering belief in me as a person and a player. I embraced both the peaks and the valleys of the game and my career. I am a better person today as a direct result of the experience of playing in the NFL. I can now focus on the enjoyment of watching some of the greatest athletes in the world play the game I love without the distraction of waiting for those elusive return phone calls.

Thankfully,

Daunte Culpepper

Oh well. No argument from me.

I really can't remember them looking quite that bad in a very long time. When ever Cincy had had any offensive success it was because of a strong offensive line.

This is bad. This is very bad.
